Subject: RE: BS: Airlines - What do you get ? From: mg Date: 11 Mar 07 - 05:16 PM don't know about SAS but flights from US are often quite good. I absolutely love the Copenhagen airport. I think it is the best I have visited ever...Amsterdam is more central though for me.....I vowed never to go through Heathrow after my last visit...too scary and that was before 9/11. But they had great purses made by Scots saddlermakers turning their skills to purses, and I will go to my dying day wishing I had bought one, they were so cheap and beautiful. mg |

They definitely should have let you have a seat in the exit row. Does Virgin Atlantic still cross the ocean. That's a nice airline. |

Subject: RE: BS: Airlines - What do you get ? From: eddie1 Date: 10 Mar 07 - 08:03 PM Hi Rapaire You've got problems? I'm 6'7" and one of my reasons for disliking BA is that when flying Heathrow to Kennedy I arrived at LHR with three hours to spare and when I asked about a seat by the emergency exit for extra legroom was told "We keep these for regular fliers!" My thought was, "I won't become one then." Most airlines take one look at me and offer me an exit seat. Eddie |

Subject: RE: BS: Airlines - What do you get ? From: Rapparee Date: 10 Mar 07 - 04:37 PM I quite dislike BA. I flew from Dulles to Heathrow once on BA, and my feet never touched the floor while I sat because the space between my seat and the back of the seat in front of me was too small for any normal human. There's a place in the Tower called "The Little Close" and these seats were too Close for comfort (no, I'm not at all sorry for the puns). Air France was okay, but Aer Lingus has them all beat. On one flight I was not only comfortable, but the oxygen masks deployed on takeoff. The cabin attendant stuffed them back up with a comment of "Oh, they always do that!" |

Subject: RE: BS: Airlines - What do you get ? From: dianavan Date: 10 Mar 07 - 04:06 PM I've flown with Lufthansa and the seats were comfortable and the service was great. I fell asleep and awoke with very swollen legs (this was a first). I was taken to the service area and the attendants massaged my legs for nearly an hour. I was amazed! Most airlines would do nothing. Be prepared. The movies are in German and most of the passengers speak German so it can be a very boring trip if you speak only English. I don't know what Lufthansa/SAS is all about. |

Subject: RE: BS: Airlines - What do you get ? From: leeneia Date: 10 Mar 07 - 10:48 AM The last time I flew British Air, I asked the stewardess with the beverage cart for water and she gave me 1/4 cup. When I asked for more than that, she refused to give it to me. Good-bye, British Air. |

Subject: BS: Airlines - What do you get ? From: eddie1 Date: 10 Mar 07 - 06:20 AM I'm flying to Germany in July for a few weeks so I had a look at Expedia – a site which let's you choose your route then go for the cheapest flight, suitable time etc. Heathrow is about half an hour from me by special bus and I want to go to Wurzburg where I'll be met by friends so Heathrow to Frankfurt is the route. There's a railway station at Frankfurt Airport with a direct line to Wurzburg so no cheap airline flying from Stansted or Luton and landing somewhere out in the countryside. A fairly simple task. Heathrow – Frankfurt, any time, any airline, single flight only, tourist class, 9th July. Click go! After a few seconds a list appears. Cheapest flight is with BA – direct flight, takes 1hour.38mins, cost £48.80. I won't fly BA as a matter of principle. Their latest ploy of charging for a second bag in the hold, even within the weight limit is just too much. Next cheapest flight is with Lufthansa – direct flight, takes 1hour .30mins, cost £52.80. That'll do me! For interest's sake, I scrolled down the list and discovered, right at the end Lufthansa/SAS – change at Copenhagen, takes 4hours 10mins, cost £898!!!!!!! I wonder what you get for your money? Presumably solid gold cutlery which you can take with you, met at Copenhagen by the Danish Royal family and taken for lunch and maybe a free guitar for in-flight entertainment? Anybody have any ideas? Eddie |
