Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Stilly River Sage Date: 05 Apr 09 - 10:01 AM I skimmed an article about the governor's sister-in-law. Seems she had been to that house a couple of times before, as had her four-year-old daughter. Seriously. She burglarized a house and took her daughter in with her at least one of those times. This time the owner caught her in the act and while they were waiting the child got out of the car and wandered into the house. Police said the child indicated she had been in the house before. A free-range family like this on the loose probably explains why the long-running soap opera Guiding Light was cancelled by CBS. Too much competition and the Palins don't require the selling of commercial space to keep their goofy story going. SRS |

GfH Ye gods. Whence all the sudden virtue? *******************8 Speaking of Sarah Palin, a politician, and her family, the estimable Levi Johnston will be on record when the interview with Tyra Banks airs later this month as saying that Palin allowed him and her 16 year old daughter to share a bed. Just as Diana Palin is Todd Palin's half sister. She is charged with dealing Oxycontin. Roger Clinton pleaded guilty to 'distributing' cocaine. The way I see it, when a politician's family member is a screwup she or he is a valid target - IF the politician has made a big deal of his or her integrity and "family values". And even then, we haven't made public some of the things that are KNOWN about certain Palin family mambers. Wanna hear some gossip? Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Barry Finn Date: 05 Apr 09 - 10:14 PM Ebbie, please, by all means proceed. Politicians are fair game once they've crossed the hypocrisy line. Usually spoutting off about family values when there's not a value in site not worth selling. I don't remember Bill C claiming he was a man of values or principles (did he say he was a chuch going man) but that didn't stop those of lesser values from jumping on his behind spoutting about purity. Keep the dirt liquid. Barry |

Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Donuel Date: 07 Apr 09 - 09:49 AM The current AG did not ask for the case to be dismissed because Ted was innocent of charges. He did it because the prosecution did not give evidence to the defense as required for any criminal case. |
Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Riginslinger Date: 07 Apr 09 - 01:59 PM And if they'd turned over the evidence to the defense, there's not much chance he ever would have been convicted in the first place. All they managed to do was to get Begich elected to the Senate. It's now time to investigate who was behind getting Begich elected, and how much they had to pay the prosection. |
Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Ebbie Date: 07 Apr 09 - 06:34 PM "And if they'd turned over the evidence to the defense, there's not much chance he ever would have been convicted in the first place. All they managed to do was to get Begich elected to the Senate." Whoa, Nelly! Not so fast, Rig. That statement is not even close to being true. Snippets, from HERE: "But the dismissal will not declare Stevens innocent. Nor will it rewrite the facts of a case in which Stevens took thousands of dollars in favors and freebies from wealthy friends." "Michael Sklaire, a former corruption prosecutor, said the decision to dismiss the case was more about punishing the prosecutors for withholding evidence than about exonerating Stevens. When the case against a drug dealer falls apart, Sklaire said, the charges disappear but the defendant can't really say he's innocent because he still got arrested with drugs." "Those that came to mind, she (juror) said, were the $2,700 massage chair, a custom stained-glass window worth $3,200, and a $29,000 fish sculpture. None of those had anything to do with the home renovations or the disputed testimony." "At trial, he (Stevens) said he didn't disclose the items he received because they were not gifts. The massage chair, for instance, remained in his house for seven years but Stevens said it was a loan. He said he assumed the stained-glass window was paid for, since his wife takes care of such things. The fish statue was a donation to his foundation, he said, and only remained on his front porch because that's where the donors shipped it." One of the most disturbing, if not damning, facets to this case is the question: What was a Senator doing in bed with a bigtime oil man/lobbyist in the first place? |
Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Alice Date: 07 Apr 09 - 07:11 PM Speaking of mistakes and buffoons.... today Palin referred to Alaska as a sovereign state. what the heck? The states in the United States are not sovereign states. ooops |

Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Date: 08 Apr 09 - 01:04 AM Actually, according to 'states rights' each state is(was) a sovereign state. Originally, (check your history, circa. the time of the founding fathers, Bill of Rights, and the Constitution), we are(were) supposed to be united sovereign, states, with a central (federal government) with both limitations, as to its powers, and duties to perform, such as protecting the borders, tariffs, etc etc. If you want to look it up, its there, and the reason a lot of people are up tight, at the federal government getting too big, and invasive, of the states rights. (This is why certain laws, vary from state to state...in case you weren't sure of that. Just, as of recent, 23 states, re-declared it..( I think as a reminder to the federal government, that they in fact are not in favor of some of the feds policies, regarding this issue!) |
Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Greg F. Date: 08 Apr 09 - 08:52 AM ...according to 'states rights' each state is a sovereign state. According to John C. Calhoun, perhaps, but this business was settled by the Civil War. Of course, modern "Lost Cause" proponents continue to refuse to acknoledge the fact. |

Subject: RE: BS: What if Alaska ends up with a buffoon From: Alice Date: 08 Apr 09 - 07:57 PM definition of sovereign state Sovereign state, a state which administers its own government, and is not dependent upon, or subject to, another power.
