Johnny is at St.Clare's Hospital,4th floor West...I was There to see Him today...I came away feeling very Sad indeed!!!!

I called the hospital to wish him well. He is settling in for the night and has had his pain medication. His condition hasn't changed. But she didn't say what it was. The nurse suggested I call again tomorrow. I told the nurse to tell
him "harpgirl and his mudcat pals wish him well and we are pulling for him!" The number is 1-709-777-5000 and ask for nurses station 4th floor west.

There is also information on the net about depression and stress . GET HELP!!! You can't do it alone. I KNOW!! They put me on Zoloft as the diagnoses was panic attacks and depression. After about 3weeks i started to come out of it.Started to talk to the other patients and walk around a bit.The attacks still came and went at random but gradually became managable. Little John's been my friend for a lotta years now. We met thirty plus years ago when he came to stay at the rooming house I lived in on Admiral road in Toronto.

Catfriends, I wish I could convey to ya what a breath of fresh air John is.....he IS a little guy, probably about five foot three and a hundred pounds.....but WHAT a VOICE! Sounds like Waylon Jennings or Johnnie Cash. We usta sit on the back porch til all hours of the morning yakking and picking.....those were good times. He has a wonderful sense of humour.......oh....and was quite a 'ladies' man!

Both of us joined the well-known band "The Sons of Erin" at the same time. It was kind of funny.....The band needed members quickly and although neither John (a Glaswegian) or me (Montreal born) had ever even SEEN Ireland we quickly donned the requisite White Fisherman's sweaters!! Big Mick has the only picture in existance of this version of "The Sons.." Maybe he can run it in this thread.

HANG TOUGH JOHN! I'VE BEEN THROUGH IT MYSELF THIS YEAR. YOU'LL MAKE IT!

I just called the hospital and the nurse said "he's not doing too bad. We're keeping him comfortable." I asked if he was able to take phone calls and she said no. She sounded positive, but, of course, if I were more than just a friend I may have been able to learn more. At least he must be hanging in there!

I went to See John Yesterday...He is in No Condition to Take any Phone Calls that's for sure..He didn't even Know I was There..He's in a Lot of Pain and They are Giving Him Morphine for It...I closed the Door to His Room,sat at His Side and Played a Tune on The Accordion..

This is close to how he sent it to me. I didn't save it, it turns out; he sent me so many things that finally I just could hear almost anything in his soft tone, just by thinking of him; saving individual items seemed to become less important. Note these two lines in the last verse, as you think of ljc:

I see you are getting a bit frustrated with the nonsense. Me too so i am having a nap til a worthwhile subject comes up.

He and I also had a great discussion on metaphysics in which he said "THOUGHTS are everything." So, I know he will know, on some level, of all of our thoughts and prayers.

I saw Johnny at the Hospital This Morning...I really Hate to Say This,
but He is in the Last Stages..There is absolutely no Hope of His Recovery..My Heart is Broken..We were such Close Friends and now I'm going to lose Him...John has a Wife and Three Children and an Ex Wife
His ex and a Son are Living in Vancouver and a Son and Daughter are Living Here in Newfoundland...They took away His I.V. this Morning..

Frank, he can only be lost to you if you allow it, my friend. Immortality comes in the thoughts of those that love us. Little John is a lucky man. He will get away from us soon, or so it appears. But if a person leaves this world with people who love him/her, then they live on here in our hearts. Little John Cameron infected this place with his humor, and his gregarious sense of self. This is in the best of the traditions of the Celt. We shall always sing his song here, and as long as we do, then he will not have left, but rather be standing just the other side of the shade waiting for the time when the veil is the thinnest. And surely he will be wearing a kilt...................LOL.

I hate to see him get away, but to those that love him, we are here to help you share your grief. But then we must listen for his voice in others, and carry his song in our hearts.

Immortality...........When we lose a friend, my nephew suggested that it's like having a hole in your heart. When I thought for a moment about it I told him he was wrong. Good friends, good people, can only fill your heart with the memories of the wonderful things you have shared and they have left for you to share with others. That's really all that our hearts are made of.......the memories of those we know and those we have known.

It is funny, how you never meet someone in person and yet consider them a friend.

I enjoyed his stories very much, and all the links he used to send me. One of my favorite things was the pictures of Newfoundland in the snow - I believe several others of you got this as well.

Well, I can't find anything clever to say. I was very fond of him and am sad for him to go.
