Máire Ní Bhraonáin had lung disease (pulmonary fibrosis) for several years but kept on singing in public. She said that singing actually helped with her condition. As well as singing with Clannad and on her own, she performed and recorded with Tríona and Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh as "T with the Maggies".I heard Daniel O' Donnell speaking about her briefly on BBC Radio Ulster news this morning. He said that in the last couple of years she had devoted her efforts to encouraging young singers.

I first saw Clannad perform around Easter-time 1974 in Leo's Tavern in Crolly, Co Donegal. Leo was Máire's father and he regularly played accordian and sang in the tavern.
