OK, it's shameless promotion, but I'm pretty excited to think that our band ShoreGrass will perform this coming Saturday night on the same stage where we've seen Robin & Linda Williams, Utah Phillips, many other great artists. Occasionally they book local musicians such as ourselves, and I'm psyched.

After a long spell of illness and a very nasty operation Angie Wright is fit and well again to perform.

Angie is half of the duo TAGGART AND WRIGHT and they will be pestering those at the Holmfirth Folk Festival by appearing and singing and generally creating a nuisance at as many singarounds and session as they can. Thats on   FRIDAY 8TH - SUNDAY MAY 10TH.

Angie is also appearing at several Open stages at a couple of festivals and has got a spot entertaining the audience at the Birnam Institute Arts Centre in ....yes Birnam during the interval of two short plays.
The Plays are entries in the National Festival of One Act Plays. Both are written by Bob Davidson who is very talented. He is a singer songwriter, actor, prize winning Play write, fiddler, guitarist and author.....Makes you sick doesnt it!

Oh yes the plays are FALL BACK and THE BRIDGE.
They are on Friday 27th MARCH.

OOPs
Angies gigs at the open stages are

the Lymm Folk Festival 27th /28th JUNE

The Lomond Festival 25/26th JULY

The Colonsay Festival 18th-20th SEPT.

The Recruited Collier,I am playing a harmony and singing the melody, rather like patting your head and scratching your tummy,I use this technique on other songs such as Bunclody.

Ballydehob Jazz Festival 2010

Taking place in the open air, or in bars and other local venues. (West Cork, Republic of Ireland)

April 30th- May 3rd 2010 - Seventeen acts will feature across the programme with Michael Buckley, widely acclaimed as the one of the most important and influential musicians to arrive on the Irish jazz scene in recent times, performing in a headline concert at 8pm on Saturday 1st May.
Ballydehob is also happy to welcome Andreas Varady, a 12 year old Hungarian jazz guitar prodigy from Limerick, who will be playing with his father, Ondrej. Andreas is expected to be world class and his talent is already drawing wide attention.

The festival now in its fourth year is going from strength to strength. Most performances are free and either take place in the open air, or in bars and other local venues for a more intimate experience. Outdoor activities also include childrens entertainment, street theatre, busking competitions, and a market traders fair adding to the carnival spirit.

The festival retains an international flavour with artists hailing from various European destinations, and the music covers a broad range of traditional and contemporary jazz styles. There will be over 30 performances and the full line-up includes:

Michael Buckley
Andreas Varady
Austin Durack
De-Hally-Bob Guitar Club
Cork City Jazz Band
Corks Got Talent
Darktown Strutters
Dawn and Dusk
Earthship
The Fireflies
Ikarumba
Les and Sam Clague
Molly O’Mahoney and Norman Collins

Ok well don't want to feel left out, but have nothing of my own. Lucky for me my partner is a singer and has quite a lovely voice.

Check her out and see if she might not be worth at least a downloaded song or two?

We are Mice in a Matchbox; a new duo consisting of Sally Stamford, a well known singer, and Jim Rolt, guitarist/vocalist with roots in soul and rock music. Together we form an exciting and interesting acoustic blend of styles with the lyrical and evocative vocals of Sally merging with Jim's punchy guitar work and harmonies. We breathe new life into songs with a wide radius, from folk to reggae, and will definitely get your toes tapping and your fingers snapping!

Most of our early song learning and practicing was done at sea, and in various anchorages between the Caribbean and the UK

Sally, just watched your You Tube vid. I am quite partial to your singing voice, but rather than a name like Mice In A Matchbox, I wonder if perhaps you should have gone with something like, say, Seriously Charmed Life? I mean, sailing the seas, drink in hand, singing your way to the Caribbean? Wow.
Oh well, here's Something Else
