I should be cleaning my kitchen floor with my nice new steam mop (you'd think that would be exciting enough, wouldn't you?) and generally tidying up, but what am I doing? I'm sitting here finding excuses for not doing anything else.

So come on, own up, why are you here and what are you avoiding doing?

well, I could be doing a bit of quilting, or making doll clothes, or reading library books, or putting some extra stuff way or ...

sandra (who did a gentle bit of cleaning up sometime earlier & can even see a bit more of the carpet!)

decision - doll & material have been put at front of table & scissors taken out of sewing bag ...

I'm due to head back to my daughters house to 'finish off' the decorating...and all the clearing/cleaning and gumpf that goes with removal of chattels from one location to another.
It's her first house and having ripped off every piece of wallpaper you can imagine the task we've shared (somewhat unevenly). Verity works full time and has no 'young man to assist' so there's been bucket loads to do and with a leaking bathroom roof and blocked gutters it's been a bit mean over the winter, but hey, the sun is shining today so I'd better be on my way.
Have just noticved a bargain £29.99 +VAT vax bagless vacuum cleaner on offer at MAKRO so I might just detour there first.
Go on, have another cup of tea and read a few more posts. That floor can wait for steam!

I do nothing when the sun is down, which at this time of year is 16+ hours.
I don't do much when it's up, either, but I can't think of an excuse.

Drinking my first mug of really strong, really hot coffee and ready to take out the dog for her first walk of the day. I have the window open and it appears to be wet out there but not cold. We've had a Chinook blowing for the last few days and the temperature has gone up as high as an official 53F.

it's been a smotheringly hot day, it's a warm, muggy night. I've had dinner with a friend, caught up with a neighbour and then brought in my washing. The spiders are out in the garden and there's a warm breeze. I'm avoiding putting the washing away for the moment..

I'm still here because I promised a friend I'd go shopping with her after work, otherwise I'd be at home in bed... even the taxpaying customers were telling me I shouldn't be on the phone!

I have been likened to Barry White and Bonnie Tyler today... I think I'm more flattered by the latter description, because at least she's still alive!

I have a couple of batches of MSs on my desk to edit, but they are on generous deadlines, and they are mostly done. I have finished my 2008 income tax returns & started copying from the draft forms to the ink ones, but I don't have to pay till April, so there's no hurry. It is trash day, but I have taken out the trash. Tomorrow is shopping day, but that's tomorrow.

There really is nothing at the moment that has higher priority than my daily Internet perusal, which consists of newsgroups, comics, the Mudcat, and blogs. After that, the only thing that cannot be put off is having a drink. I imagine it will be a Manhattan.

when I posted 21st Jan I had 45 days to dress the doll in kimono for a competition.

I finally started yesterday (well, I was in hospital for a few days & recovering for a few more!) & now have less than 3 weeks to the competition, which gives less than 2 weeks to complete a very complicated outfit as I'll be away the week before the competition. This includes buying material for the kimono from an on-line supplier! Fortunately I do have the materials for all the undergarments, so started them yesterday.

I don't like the TOMB! It is dark and lonely and spooky down there. Don't want to go down into the TOMB! The grey receipts aren't going anywhere. Why do they need to be filed now? I am sure I can find nice activities to do at my desk.

TOMB = Terminal Odius Monotonous Boredom - filing letters and deposit contracts in a small room crammed with rows and rows of floor to near ceiling filing cupboards. Thousands of them. I hate this part of my job.
