You guys OK? CNN is reporting a 6.1 earthquake centered on Vancouver Island.

Must be a slow news day; it wouldn't be felt by anyone, even in Vancouver.

News to me. Must have a look on T.V.
Hay Bruce!, you feel anything?
All kidding aside I hope everyone is O.K.

Yes, a 6.1 earthquake will be felt by most people. It can also do damage in urban areas to older buildings of which Vancouver has many.

THe USA Geological Survey had it on their site

But, the Canadian folks at NRCAN did not seem to have it listed? Beats me as to why not?

Seems to be about 150 km west of Vancouver on the ocean floor. That is not the same as on Vancouver Island. This is probably nothing to worry about.

There has been a lot of activity in the Vancouver Island Region in the last few days. Also, See TONGA, also XIZANG, China, Peru, Russia...All in excess of 6.0. This is global stuff, not just Vancouver. What makes me curious is the PATTERN around the globe...

I hope our friends in California are as prepared as they claim to be...

We have clusters of earthquakes in that area along the Juan de Fuca Plate all the time. One that size might be felt in Port Hardy or Gold River, on the west side of the Island, but too far away to be felt on the south end or in Vancouver. Don't forget Vancouver Island is a very large island. What concerns me, is at least there is movement going on in that area, the rest of the plate doesn't appear to have as much and that might not bode well for the southern part of BC, Washington State and Oregon.

You're not alone, Bob. Somebody even wrote a country song about it. Called 'Ring of Fire.'

Let's go surfin' now
Everybody's learning how
Come on and safari with me
(Come on and safari with...)

Early in the morning we'll be startin out
Some honeys will be comin' along
We're loadin' up my woody
with the boards inside
and heading out singing our song

Come on (surf route) baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surf route) take you surfin' (surfin' safari) with me
Come along (surf route) baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surf route) take you surfin' (surfin' safari) with me

Let's go surfin' now
Everybody's learning how
Come on and safari with me
(Come on and safari with...)

At Huntington and Malibu
They're shooting the pier
At Rincon they're walking the nose
We're going on safari to the islands this year
So if you're coming get ready to go

Come on (surf route) baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surf route) take you surfin' (surfin' safari) with me
Come along (surf route) baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surf route) take you surfin' (surfin' safari) with me

Let's go surfin' now
Everybody's learning how
Come on and safari with me
(Come on and safari with...)

They're anglin' in Laguna in Cerro Azul
They're kicking out in Doheny too
I tell you surfin's mighty wild
It's getting bigger every day
From Hawaii to the shores of Peru

Come on (surf route) baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surf route) take you surfin' (surfin' safari) with me
Come along (surf route) baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surf route) take you surfin' (surfin' safari) with me

Let's go surfin' now
Everybody's learning how
Come on and safari with me
(Come on and safari with...)

With me
(Surfin' Safari)
Yeah me
(Surfin' Safari)
With me
(Surfin' Safari)
Yeah me
(Surfin' Safari)
With me

Peace,

Suggestion: Check your toilet's wax seal?

They need replac'in every few years, or could spring a big leak.

In case anybody didn't get the last one, John=toilet, Aw, ferget it...

This toilet stuff reminds me of Mr. Dow, our local retired plumber. He came by when my seal broke and water went through the floor. He fixed that, AND the sink. Cost? $40. Yes kids, there are still a whole bunch of good folks out there...Bless you, Mr. Dow...

Never confuse a sea lion for a wax seal.

If you do, the bee's might sting you "right on the old flipper".
