This is the version the old drunk lady sang in our production of
the melodrama, "Because Their Hearts Were Pure". Still love it after 50 years.

Moriarty: "Why?"
Seagoon: "There's a cannonball approaching!"
Moriarty: "Right! I'll see you after the ball is over!"

For something completely different, we turn to the U.S. Marine Corps Aviation Wing, VMF-214 ("Black Sheep")in the Pacific in 1943:

After Rabaul is over,
After the close of day,
Count up the Japs and Zeros,
But just let me get away!
Take all your Navy Crosses,
Medals and ribbons too,
Along with my orders and stuff them
Right up your avenue!

After Rabaul is over,
After Bull Halsey's day,
MacArthur can have the credit,
Just send me home to stay!
I don't want to be a hero,
So take your wings of gold,
To hell with the southwest Pacific,
I just want to grow old!

My father used to sing a football- related version but I can't remember the complete lyrics. Those I recall are:-

Line 1 After the ball was over, after the whistle blew
Line 2 ?
Line 3 ?
Line 4 Head over heels went the goalie
Line 5 After the ball.

The parody was not linked to a specific football team
(as are one or two in this thread) although the version I heard was sung in Ipswich, UK.

Can any one (probably based many years ago in Suffolk, UK,) shed any light on the missing lines?

My grandmother would sing:

After the ball was over Annie took out her glass eye,
stood her wooden leg in the corner
corked up her bottle of dye
Put her false teeth in some water
hung her blond wig on the line
After the ball was over
Annie said she felt just fine.

My grandfather sang the same song but at the end he would say
after the ball was over
Annie crawled into the bed and died.

And this was part of my early childhood development.

My moms version was:
After the ball was over,
Sally took out her glass eye,
She took out her teeth and brushed them and hung up her hair to dry,
Stood her wooden leg in the corner and pasted an ear on the wall,
That's what was left of poor Sally
After the ball.

From the Oldham Tinkers "An Oldham Rugby Medley":

Pity the team in blue, lads
The sweet little team in blue
They were braggin’ and they were swankin’
‘Bout what they were going to do

Jim Valentine got the ball, lads
And thowt he would easily score
But Barney copped ‘im and gently dropped ‘im
They’ll meet on an ‘appier shore

My Mum used to sin a version of this which ran:
"One glass eye and a wooden leg
And I said, 'Is that you,Mona?'
She said, 'It is and the rest of me
    Is over in the corner!"

After the ball was over
She took out her glass eye
Put her false leg in the corner
Corked up the bottle of rye
Put her false teeth on the counter
Hung her wig on the wall
What remained to be seen
After the ball
