I have always liked the sound of Vermont.

What is so serious about the upcoming US elections? In the new term we will have the same ruling oligopoly as before - maybe with new names over the doors.
Perhaps Vermont will nationalize the maple syrup industry though.

If you don't think there's any difference between the Bushites and Nancy Pelosi et al., you'd best do a bit more research.

He sounds like a real local representative of his electorate and not some brown-nosing professional politician. They are lucky to have him and since he has been re-elected so many times - they realise this. He is what democracy is about and not some overbearing political party machinery.

There have been some other good articles in the Guardian, one about "Clean money" legislation designed to eliminate the corrupt advantage given by "campaign donations" which will always advantage the rich and put the politicians in thrall to them, and another about another place in Middle America where the election was being driven by local republican corruption - but I can't find either on the Guardian website now.

I believe that sometimes articles reprinted by the Guardian from other publications aren't carried on the Guardian website because of some kind of copyright restriction imposed by the other publication or the author etc.

There's probably some way of tracking down the article in the website of the other publication.
