Subject: RE: tall tale by hamish imlach chords From: Jim I Date: 25 Jul 06 - 06:25 PM The tune is probably a variant of "The Little Beggarman". Once I get the wife off on holiday tomorrow I'll think about the chords ---"Yes Dear! I'm coming...." |
Subject: RE: tall tale by hamish imlach chords From: Ritchie Date: 31 Jul 06 - 05:37 PM thanks Jim, I'll offer my usual, "there's a drink in it for you if you do!" but since I've never paid up before, no further comment other than "I hope both you and the wife have a great time" ;-) |
Subject: RE: tall tale by hamish imlach chords From: Jim Dixon Date: 20 Aug 06 - 10:49 PM Is TALL TALE really a song? According to this Hamish Imlach discography, TALL TALE was written by Watt Nicoll. Hamish Imlach recorded it on his album "Before and After," XTRA 1059, 1967. There's a discussion in this thread: Lyr Req: Pouring whisky down sink, but the text given there is of a monologue, not a song. Is it the same story? |
Subject: RE: Chords Req: Tall Tale (from Hamish Imlach) From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 21 Aug 06 - 04:15 AM Jim the song and the monologue tell the same story. The words for the song Tall Tale are posted in the first of the links above (92008) and Hamish sang it to The Little Beggarman as stated by Jim I above. Mick |

Subject: Chords Add: TALL TALE (Watt Nicoll) From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 18 Jul 07 - 04:56 PM Ritchie - here's the chords I have in an old song folder, in D: I took the (D)cork from the first bottle, had a little (C)drink (D)Kissed the bottle tenderly, (A7)poured it down the (C)sink. (D)Uncorked the second, did the same as be(C)fore; (D)Before I poured it down the sink I (A7)drank a (C)little (D)more (C)Uncorked the third and I drank a little toast To the (D)losing of the ten friends I (A7)really like the (C)most. (D)Stood to attention, had another little (C)drink, Threw the (D)cork in the bucket and the (A7)whiskey (C)down the (D)sink. You can simplify it more by not using the A7 chords, just use the C instead. Mick |
