Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: ClaireBear Date: 25 Oct 08 - 05:20 AM Dear Santa, Sorry, I have been working rather a lot and missed your message. My son and I are both excellent readers. We like to read fairly sophisticated chapter books of a magical -- or at least slightly surreal -- nature. Just now we are reading The Palace of Laughter by Jon Berkeley, a lucky thrift store find that we are very much enjoying. Apparently there are two sequels... We've also done well with The Hobbit and The Phantom Tollbooth (that was awhile ago now). I hope this is sufficient information to give you a good beginning -- if not do inquire again and I will try to be more prompt with my replies. Your faithful friend, Claire |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,Tabster's Clandestine Claus Date: 25 Oct 08 - 09:15 AM Well, Tabby - I have it on good authority that Our Liz is of a certain size herself. I expect that may refer to those under the age of discretion that are playing, although it does seem that computer knowledge is largely inversely proportional to age. Anyway, time creeps on and I have to start to think about considering to begin shopping for the holidays. For my Santee? I think I shall wait for reports from Sunny Spain. Coal in a holey stocking, perhaps...tastefully striped in burgundy and dark green, of course - the stocking, that is. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,Limpit's successful Secret Santa Date: 25 Oct 08 - 03:28 PM Hullo Limpit! I don't mind telling you, assembling your gift has been quite the challenge. The hat and shoes were readily available, of course, and the elves whipped up a sweet little bolero in a lovely fluffy wool, so that was soon sorted. (It will be be quite an ensemble, once all the bits are assembled!) However, it proved quite an ordeal to get both the poodle and the turtledoves dyed the exact right shades of pink to match the chiffon roses... At last I've found some specialists -- at a shop in one of my favourite holiday destinations, in fact -- who are up to that task, I think. I've had the process tested on one of my reindeer first, of course, and I must say I am quite pleased with the effect. Though the plaids are rather startling together, from certain angles. At any rate, I've gotten very good advice and have worked very hard to ensure that your pressie will be just to your taste. I do hope it suits! Just to be sure of its timely arrival, I'm having your parcel sent round early, directly from the dyers. Surely I can count on you not to open it until the appropriate time, whenever that may be in your family. Yes? Just push some little gobbets of duck breast in through the air holes every so often, to keep the livestock in good spirits, will you? There's a dear! I remain your humble servant Santa Claus |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,Limpit's bemused and bewildered Santa Date: 25 Oct 08 - 04:14 PM But surely I have it written here that Limpit is the embodiment of sweet deportment and obendient behaviour? Oh dear. I see now where I've gone wrong. The date on this form says 2000, not 2008. It seems that my data on Limpit may be a bit, er, past its sell-by date. Oh dear oh dear. I trust, at least, that her taste in colour, pattern, clothing and so on has not changed very much since she was four. As long as I've got that bit right, I don't so much mind about when the pressie is opened... Yours, Limpit's now somewhat dispirited Santa |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: Anne Lister Date: 26 Oct 08 - 10:09 AM Oh, Santa .. why would you think I will only deserve coal? and burgundy and dark green will just remind me of my old school uniform (but then that's perhaps what you intended?). Tell any elves to come and find me at the Welsh stand at WOMEX and I'll be happy to buy them a tortilla or two, or even some churros. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: vectis Date: 26 Oct 08 - 06:44 PM Hi there Santa I like Western dragons better than the eastern kind (too snake like for my taste). I have a large project on at the moment so a smaller one that I can travel with would be better. Still, you caught me just before I was about to order a lovely Japanese battle fan. The question still remains - kit or chart? The gift is coming together nicely, I think. Since you answered my main question, I think I can put the coal back in the scuttle. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,Batty's wickedly good Santa Date: 29 Oct 08 - 02:18 PM Good day my dear Goddess. I see that someone has started a thread about early presents. Well, there will be one on its way to you in the near future and you can open it early without worry. The elves are busily collecting other elements of your Yuletide treat and making sure that everything is assembled in time for the long journey that it must take to reach you out in the wilds of New Hampshire. I note that you live in town named after one that has very happy memories for me, but that you still have a sheriff, unlike the original. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,MGAS's SS Date: 30 Oct 08 - 11:42 AM Hello MGAS. Don't worry, I'm here. I've studied your hints, but I just can't decide. If someone likes chocolate, and they like cats, does that mean they'd like chocolate-covered cats? Probably not. Maybe rocks from beaches would be a better line to persue. I wish I could get to a beach, now that it's cold here. I'd better grab you a rock before they all freeze in the mud. Or would that just make it better for a Mudcatter? |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,Maryrrf's X-mas Gnome Date: 30 Oct 08 - 11:46 AM Lady Mary, Sorry about the delay in replying, I've been travelling the globe looking for goodies that will hopefully meet with your approval. Yes, Whitby is where the famous folk festival (one of them) is held. A beautiful town, although I have it on very good authority that the weather wasn't at its best this year during the festival season. I hear rumours of rain.. It's a pity Missie isn't allowed turkey. No turkey and no chocolates.. whatever is the world coming to? But if she gets plenty of TLC, that counterbalances the lack of treats, I suppose. We all get older if we live long enough, just look at that Leadfingers.. ;o)) MXG |

I shall have to start thinking about your holiday present any week now...perhaps I shall break down and open the HINTS thread. I did look at it some time ago, but memory loss has set in. Silver - I do recall silver. Some of the people here do wonderful things with silver. And chili peppers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: Anne Lister Date: 03 Nov 08 - 03:00 AM Oh, Santa, your elves (or solitary elf?) succeeded in staying very much under cover! Seville was indeed enjoyable but I led a blameless existence, not staying out after 10.30 pm and only slightly over-indulging (largely due to the Australian delegates re-filling my glass). I'm not a difficult person to please in terms of gifts ... earrings or some good chili equally happily received. Or music, of course. |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,ClaireBear's Still Sorting Santa Date: 03 Nov 08 - 04:44 PM Dear ClaireBear I noticed you have posted on the Samhain thread. Does this mean you celebrate Winter Solstice? Christian Christmas? Both? I know a lot of people who do celebrate both but it would be nice to know. I sometimes get very confused and wouldn't like to offend you in any way. Love and hugs Still Sorting Santa xxx |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: GUEST,Tabster's Confused Claus Date: 03 Nov 08 - 05:13 PM Mrs. Claus says earrings come in two kinds - the ones that dangle and the ones that don't. Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: ClaireBear Date: 03 Nov 08 - 05:14 PM Dear Santa, You are so sweet to be concerned. Be reassured: I am hardly ever offended. And for the record, I am a church-going, ritual-attending Episcopagan (half Anglican Communion, half daughter of the earth). I sing in the choir at church, and I participate in pagan events too. I don't often work with a group to create pagan rituals these days, but only because my beloved priestess/leader is largely inactive herself. While I identify myself as both, you may consider me a Christmas keeper. If you'll look at last year's hints, you'll find the story of how I love the spiritual elements of Christmas and live with someone who prefers not to acknowledge it and won't celebrate it, so I'm ridiculously grateful for any Christmas-related cheer that comes my way. I hope that helps, Santa! Chaars, Claire |
Subject: RE: BS: Silly Secret Santee teaser 2008 From: My guru always said Date: 03 Nov 08 - 05:42 PM Brill, I gotta Santa *grin* You're probably right about the chocolate covered cats, Santa Dear, though someone did make some for a MudGather I ran last year & they were delicious!! It's been cold here too, but has been warming up over the past few days. Have you had lots of snow??? Are you near a beach then? Here we're not supposed to take rocks from beaches any more as if everyone does it they erode too much, but I usually manage to find an interesting pebble or two. About 20 years ago I found enough small flat pebbles below Tintagel to make my own set of Runes which is still one of my special treasures! |
