Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 20 Dec 10 - 10:58 AM So Flynn is the first back-up quarterback to start for the Pack since Brett Favre in 1892. Definitely the end of an era. Though didn't you just love that Dan Connolly runback. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 22 Dec 10 - 05:40 AM Might not be anybody for a while if they tar his father as they are trying to do. I think the NCAA should be investigating the accusers because they must have known about their "accusations" BEFORE he went to Auburn. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 26 Dec 10 - 04:04 PM 7 games without a turnover. Did Brady pass Kosar in consecutive completions? I had to go for a walk before dark and he was at 307. Amazing luck. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: J-boy Date: 26 Dec 10 - 04:51 PM They're postponing tonight's game because of snow? What's the NFL coming to? Some of the best games I've ever seen were played in blizzard-like conditions! |

But, NFL.com says NBC so I'll check at game time and decide if I can stay up past my bedtime. Wish I coulda seen last night's game... the final score looked like it was a goodun. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 28 Dec 10 - 02:27 PM There is English Premiership football on at the same time so I wont go... hmmm... that would be a taped game and it doesn't say who's playing... crap! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: GUEST,Peadar (formerly) of Portsmouth Date: 28 Dec 10 - 04:58 PM Definitely on NBC tonight, gnu. Gotta figure the Iggles are going to romp. BTW, I've hesitated adding commentary since the Jets matchup...don't wanna jinx my Pats...but since next week doesn't really matter... GO PATS! |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: PoppaGator Date: 29 Dec 10 - 02:55 PM The New Orleans Saints and I are very happy to see that none of y'all are thinking about the Saints at all. Keeping ignoring the defending champions at your peril! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 29 Dec 10 - 05:03 PM Hahahahahaa... Brett got fined $50k for "being uncooperative". BUT, part of the statement made me laugh... "Every member of every club's staff should be able to work in an environment free of harassment or hostility,... " commissioner Goodell said. Yes, my cutting the quote short is childish. Duly noted. But I still got a chuckle. I guess Brett never had to attend any short staff meetings on sexual herassmeant. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 30 Dec 10 - 12:39 PM Seems to have been a bit of a culture at the Jets. Remember that reporter. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 30 Dec 10 - 01:16 PM Hey Poppagator. I called the Saints as winners of the NFC way up the thread, and mainly because Drew Brees is the best qb in the league. Now, I think Chicago will give them a run for their money, but I still say Saints-Patriots in the Bowl, with the Patriots being 3 point favorites. Take that bet! The Saints will repeat. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 30 Dec 10 - 04:18 PM No Thursday night game... sniff. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: PoppaGator Date: 30 Dec 10 - 05:08 PM Thanks, Leej ~ very perceptive (unlike so many of the talking-head "experts" on TV, at least until very recently). Last year the Saints had home-field advantage all the way to the final game, and may not have won without that advantage. This year they'll just have to show that they can win a championship the harder way, on the road. Brees has been occasionally imperfect, unlike last year, but he's still capable of just about anything once we get to win-or-go-home time. The N.O. defense has produced fewer turnovers, but has improved upon last year's yards-allowed and points-allowed statistics. And the top two running backs, who have been injured for most of the year, seem to be rounding into form. All in all, no worse than last year's championship team, maybe a little better. We shall see... |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 30 Dec 10 - 05:34 PM Yeah... near 4500 air and 32 TDs for Drew. Impressive. 5.3 for Ivory but only 7 TDs on the ground between the top two backs. I dunno. If the Pats and the Saints played today, I'd bet Pats... $2... >;-). But, who peaks on the last Sunday?... who knows? There's a lot of football between now and then. Hell... Miami at Pats on Sunday? Like I said, even Buffalo and Miami, even when the are doing shit, seem to be able to rattle the Pats. At least in the past. I know it's silly to say, but injuries may dictate the rest of the season. I mean, Shockey is a game winner and his nuts are sore. I wish I could watch ALL the games. Actually, I CAN but it costs coin and I rely on the regular TV networks to televise the good games. Thankfully I live just up the road from the Pats and get to see a lot of their games. Saints - Pats would be great. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 31 Dec 10 - 04:13 AM Australian Rules, or as my Australian son-in-law calls it, Cross Country Ping-Pong! I used to think it, and Gaelic, were closest to the original forms of the game - you could more or less play it to the FA 1863 laws. Now I reckon Gridiron is closest to the form introduced to Western Europe by the Roman army. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 02 Jan 11 - 02:34 PM Yes, Brady is a monster. On a day-to-day basis, nobody keeps pace with him. But my guess is that Brees reads the defenses just a little bit better. And he has that never say die attitude,so you can never count him out. And maybe I just genuinely admire Drew Brees. He strikes me as a man of principle and character, and God knows we need more of them in football, and in life. |
