Q... isn't it sad? BIG star and she really sucked the big one. Pathetic! The Yankee anthem is the best "overall" anthem I have ever heard and to have it murdered like that is almost disrespectful.

As for the game... it's still Sunday. But, the Packer rush and secondary are shutting Big Ben down. If the Steelers do not establish a viable running game in the third quarter, they are fucked unless they get lucky in the long game. But... whaddya do? Go for the long and lucky now or go with the running game and hope you have enough time to run and then shoot? I'd go for the shootout now... Pack injuries dictate taking the chance... ????

The game was pretty interesting, but all the hype preceeding it almost turned me off from watching it.
One hype-er even suggested it was an unofficlal national holiday.

I started to look at the half-time show, but couldn't stomach it, so switched to a news channel.

I just googled the peas and listened to a song(?) called My Humps for about 20 seconds... WAY too long. Glad I missed the halftime.

The peas made me wonder- whatever happened to the old halftime shows with marching bands, and songs one could sing or listen to?
I can't believe noise helps sell beer or whatever on these telecasts.

I watched till half time, then left the timer running and went to bed - if I'd stayed up I'd probably had some more Noah's Mill and missed the second half any way. Got up this mornin, watched a minute or so of the peas, then fast forwarded to the second half, then watched till the end. As they mentioned several times in the studio here, since the Beeb's been covering the game, we've had a string of great Superbowls. Tiki Barber was impressed by how many Brits stayed up. Great to see Lombardi going home, though I wouldn't have minded too much if the Steelers had won. They remind me of a team I used to support:

There's been quite a few leagues in Britain, unfortunately sometimes at the same time. The USAF had its own league for a long time, even played their finals at Wembley. The first game I saw was an exhibtion match during the Edinburgh Festival - (Chicksands) Fighting Chicks v the Suffolk Titans on 1 September 1962 at Goldenacre, then the Chicks were back a year later at Inverleith facing the Sabres from France. I supported the Ravens because they were the first British team I saw that played as if they knew what they were doing Victor Ebubedike (later Mohammed) ended up on the NY Jets squad.

Marching bands are for college. The Super Bowl is all about the hype and the biggest possible stadium music acts performing. I thought that Peas were OK. Though Fergie was the only one who sounded like her voice was not pitch corrected. I try to keep in mind that current popular music is not aimed at my taste.

The highlight of the Peas' set was Slash emerging from the stage to play Sweet Child of Mine with Fergie on vocal. I still thought her vocal fell short of Axl Rose by a long shot.
