G'day all,

This was in the "Craigielee/Waltzing Matilda" thread. I think it has a better chance of finding what Bleggy is after as a new thread, with the appropriate header.

Regards,

Bob

G'day again Bleggy,

Here I am responding to my own re-posting of your request.

I did an "advanced search" on: Country Revival / Slim Dusty / Lyrics and came uo with this:

Slim Dusty Lyric Download (?)

It "promised" to have the lyrics you need ... but so did a few others that proved to be duds (still hawking for someone to post the lyrics)!

I can't open this from work (presumably blocked because of the "banned' word download). I'll check when I get home.

(If you do open the 'Clicky" - and get the lyrics you are after - please pop back and tell us ... just to save others from doubling up on the query.

Regards,

Bob

Well, G'day again Bleggy,

It turns out that all these sites promise the lyrics ... then ask if you can give the words to them.

Any way, I realised that I had the Best of Slim Dusty CD - so I have done my best to transcribe what Slim sings. What I have inside (brackets) is what I'm not sure about!

COUNTRY REVIVAL
Slim Dusty

They say our music's having a revival,
They say that country's on the climb.
But I say "what the hell are they talking about
The Country has been here all the time?"

There's a lot more people now admitting
They like Country music, after all,
Now the dollar sign's alongside country music -
It's cowboy boots and hats for one and all.

They say that Country fiddle's (all the rage now).
They say they've had enough of all this noise.
I suppose the music will return full circle,
Our (palates) and our stories now enjoy.

They say our music's having a revival,
They say that Country's on the climb.
But I say "what the hell are they talking about
The Country has been here all the time?"

(Play Charles …) - music interlude

When rock & roll came out and just took over,
A lot of music just went underground,
And somehow rock got tangled up with Country -
And Country music added to the sound.

Oh, they're singing songs they've only just discovered,
Just hear them talk about their brand new sound.
But there's nothing new about the songs they're singing,
It's just that Country music's come to town!

They say our music's having a revival,
They say that Country's on the climb.
But I say "what the hell are they talking about
The Country has been here all the time?"

… Sure it has! Country has been here all the time.

Enjoy!

Bob

Have you cross-linked this to the thread on which the original request took place?

Great work, Bob.

To the CLONES: The above post is a "LYRICS ADD".

G'day Peace,

I didn't bother to do any linking to the Criagielee/Waltzing Matilda thread since the whole point of what I explained to our GUEST, Bleggy was that the title was irrelevant to the lyrics requested - and that a request should be more successful with the right "Lyrics Request" header and the song name, right up top.

I then said that I would start such a thread ... and, dammit, after finding most of the "Lyric Download" sites were hoping to download from posters, I ended up digging out my CD and prising out the words.

The link above just takes you to a thread which only shares the fact that it's about an Australian song.

Regard(les)s,

Bob

You must be a Big Wheel Bob - You seem to go around in small circles... :-)

Errr... G'day yet again,

I had a listen to this track on a better speaker setup - with a mate who is more familiar with the song ... and have straightened out a few of the lines unclear on my setup:

Country Revival
Slim Dusty

They say our music's having a revival,
They say that country's on the climb.
But I say "what the hell are they talking about
The country has been here all the time?"

There's a lot more people now admitting
They like country music, after all,
Now the dollar sign's alongside country music -
It's cowboy boots and hats for one and all.

They say that country fiddle's on the road now.
They say they've had enough of all this noise.
I suppose the music really turned full circle,
Our ballads and our stories now enjoy.

They say our music's having a revival,
They say that country's on the climb.
But I say "what the hell are they talking about
The country has been here all the time?"

[Play Charles … - music interlude…]

When rock & roll came out and just took over,
A lot of music just went underground,
Then somehow rock got tangled up with country -
And country music added to the sound.

I think this is about as accurate as I'm likely to get it!

Regards,

Bob
