Subject: WHITBY FOLK WEEK-NEED CAMPING? From: GUEST,M&C Date: 09 May 07 - 06:00 AM Here's the link to the Temporary campsite during Whitby Folk Week.. It proved very popular last year and all profits go towards live music and dance in the Whitby area... http://www.moorandcoast.co.uk/folk_week_07.html |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Soldier boy Date: 09 May 07 - 11:26 AM Do you need to book camping places in advance or can you just turn up and pay at the entrance? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Tig Date: 09 May 07 - 11:32 AM You will need to book in advance Soldier Boy since it's the only game in town other than the official ticket holder's campsite. There are only about 100 pitches available at that. There is now no campsite on Stoops Cross and the only place taking tents other than the community college is a farm out on the Guisborough Road. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Soldier boy Date: 09 May 07 - 11:32 AM Sorry, silly me - just checked the website and it says all tickets must be pre-booked. So are there lots of camping spaces still available or do we need to get a move on? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Raggytash Date: 09 May 07 - 12:44 PM Hi Chris I'd get a move on if I were you, camping spots close to town will be like the proverbially rocking horse droppings Cheers Nick |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,M&C Date: 09 May 07 - 07:23 PM Still plenty of places as yet but selling well... |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Soldier boy Date: 09 May 07 - 10:06 PM Thanks Nick, Glen and Chris I'd better get a move on then. And special thanks to Glen and Chris, you tireless supporters of Whitby Folk Week, for making the special effort again this year to provide a campsite for 'the fringe' and only a short stroll into town. Despite my combatant remarks last year about the cost of camping at Whitby Community College I and many others really do appreciate what you are doing here. It is actually good value for money and there are very few alternatives to be had in Whitby during this not to be missed festival. It's a very good campsite with all the facilities that you could possibly need so book yor pitch now. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: dozy rozy Date: 10 May 07 - 06:41 AM Soldier boy, have you taken a sunshine pill? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Soldier boy Date: 10 May 07 - 03:02 PM Yeah dozy rozy. Think I'm turning into Dylan from The Majic Roundabout. Scarey! Going to start packing now for Holmfirth Festival of Folk this weekend. See you there dr. |

Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Tizzer Date: 13 May 07 - 07:14 AM The campsite during the Moor & Coast Festival was great. I've booked for the full week during Whitby Folk Week.. It definatly is the best. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Robbie Date: 14 May 07 - 06:09 PM Thanks for the two stewards who run the campsite at Moor & Coast festival, they helped, and organised in the most efficient and polite manner. Will they be running the campsite during Folk Week?? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Drumshanty Date: 15 May 07 - 04:44 AM Got my receipt for the week yesterday - way beyond excited! And looking forward to having a well-run and safe camping experience again. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Sooz Date: 16 May 07 - 02:44 AM Was planning to book a few days but was disappointed to find that dogs were not welcome. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,M&C Date: 16 May 07 - 04:29 AM Dogs are welcome on the site... See http://www.moorandcoast.co.uk/folk_week_07.html for more details... As I just explained to a query on email, "dogs must not be left unatterded in vehicles on the campsite". I don't think that's an unreasonable restriction for the benifit of both animal and other campers... |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Lulu Date: 16 May 07 - 08:47 AM We took our dog to the Moor & Coast Festival campsite this year and during folk week last year... No problems, infact the caretakers in the college had their dogs with them... |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Sooz Date: 16 May 07 - 01:13 PM The rules are very clear - no dogs to be left unattended. Not much point coming at all as I'm sure that our Border Collie would not be welcome in any concert venues. (Particularly if anyone was playing the melodeon as she likes to join in!) |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Roz Date: 16 May 07 - 05:06 PM I thought it was an criminal offence to leave a dog in a vehicle unattended. Why would you want to take a dog to a festival and then abandon it for someone else to look after. Very selfish. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: nutty Date: 16 May 07 - 05:13 PM Come off it Roz. People are not talking about leaving dogs in cars - which is an offence - but in caravans and camper vans where they have proper ventilation and access to food and water - which is not an offence. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Roz Date: 16 May 07 - 05:54 PM I suppose there's a baby alarm in there so you know when your dog is barking.. Or is it just the people who want to take dogs to festivals that are barking??? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Scunny Beekeeper Date: 16 May 07 - 09:56 PM Dogs are welcome in some venues. One of the stewards brings hers,Daisy, border collie ,who is very well behaved and has ben since a pup. They share a flat in our block and the land lady is also dog friendly- Julie Charlton. Has flats on the Kyber Pass and also Normanby Terrace.Highly recommended |

Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: GUEST,Romansky Date: 24 May 07 - 05:57 AM Not been to Whitby before... Is the campsite close to the action or is there a nearer one??? |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: nutty Date: 24 May 07 - 06:04 AM This is the nearest campsite. It is set just above the town and only a short walk from both the harbour area and West Cliff, so is accesslble to all events. If you are camping you can't get anything better - don't miss out.....BOOK NOW. |
Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Michael Date: 24 May 07 - 07:09 AM To put not too fine a point on it Romansky; if you ar not booked in to the official-season-ticket-holders-only campsite the M&C is your only easily walksble option (and it is easily walkable). Ther's nowt else for miles. Mike |

Subject: RE: Whitby Folk Week - Need Camping? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 29 Jul 09 - 08:26 AM This thread is 2 years old and seems to have come back to the top as the result of one of a "spam post". That said, as it is here again, I expect there are people asking themselves the same questions for 2009 as they were in 2007. I have just checked Moor and Coast's web site and they are running their camping again in 2009 - DETAILS HERE. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |
