Subject: RE: Falklands 25yearson /HorseGuards Parade From: Schantieman Date: 17 Jun 07 - 06:15 PM I saw that as well - in fact I watched the whole programme with tears in my eyes. And they've just started again. By 'eck I'm a sentimental awd booger. It wasn't actually unaccompanied: there was an electric piano or something I think. I thought it was going to be excruciatingly awful but turned out to be excellent - and she can't 'arf sing, that girl. Prince Andrew (and the Rear Admiral next to him - was it Sandy Woodward?) trying to march and then forgetting to salute his big bro gave the biggest laugh of the afternoon. All in all, excellent and moving coverage - and a brilliant idea to link it up to a ceremony in the Falklands at the same time. The image of that poppy wreath at the water's edge will stay with me for a long time and will also, I suspect, be much used on TV. Steve |
Subject: Falklands 25yearson /HorseGuards Parade From: MuddleC Date: 17 Jun 07 - 10:51 AM Just watching the BBC TV coverage of the parade being held on HorseGuards Parade in London. I was wondering how this was going to be different from the Trooping of The Colour held yesterday(Queen's Birthday).... The daughter of a soldier killed on Sir Galahad stood in the middle of Horseguards and sang ,..unaccompanied, Maddy Prior's 'Somewhere along the Road'...Brilliant !!! Well done that girl and thanks from another Task Force Member Unfortunately I didn't catch her name. |
