Ijust checked the link- and just like I feared, the mp3s will be presented on MusicMatch Jukebox. Which I don't have and don't know to acquire. Any ideas? I do have RealAudio and Windows Media Player.

C.Ham you raised a topic that I'm still fuming about. And I remember Mike's little smile when I first met him and mentioned the name. I thought it was way to close to Mike's show and still do. However to look at it as you suggested I kind of like that idea because Mike's show is truly a great one. When we meet I will tell you what I wanted to call it and still do. It would have been in honor of someone. Much like the Stan Rogers Festival except this person is still alive. It could still happen as there will be a lot or reorganizing for next year.

I don't have MusicMatch Jukebox. The stream and the podcasts play perfectly for me in the Windows Media Player.

They should work just fine in any program that can play MP3 files.

Che Guevara claim your crown...

Friends: Bruce Murdoch on Mike Regenstrief's "Folk Roots/Folk Branches" on CKUT/Montreal is an event that
should not be missed. Those who understand the importance of "331/3 Revolutions per Minute" and the earlier Elektra compilation/recording know that this will be a little more than just a radio show...Embrace the technology, find a way to listen to this program. This is your opportunity to hear one of the great Singer/Songwriters of our time...

I hope as many Mudcatters as possible will tune in and listen to Bruce's quality songwriting and artistry. Good singer and guitarist too. It's time for Bruce to get his due as an artist and songwriter.

I'd really love to see other artist record his music as well.

"I'd really love to see other artist record his music as well."

A couple who have, that I know of, are; Bill Staines - "Rompin' Rovin' Days" on his album Journey Home and Penny Lang - "Can I Come Across To You" on her album Gather Honey. Richie Havens performs Bruce's song "Let's Lay Down Our Drums" in his live performances.

In 1972 -- 35 Years ago -- I was a student at Dawson College and got a small budget from the student government to create a folk music concert series. Among the performers who played the Dawson series were such notables as Utah Phillips, Malvina Reynolds, John Allan Cameron, Jean Carignan, Michael Cooney, Jesse Winchester and many others.

But the very FIRST performer I invited to open the series was Bruce Murdoch.

Then, in 1974, when I took over running the Golem, the Montreal coffeehouse/folk club, the first performer I invited to play there, and the first performer who did play there in my tenure, was again Bruce Murdoch.

Shortly after I started doing the radio show -- almost 14 years ago now -- I told Bruce I wanted him to come on the show. I'm so glad it's finally happening.

I've really missed Bruce and his songs over the past too many years. I hope I can get a space near the front for his Ormstown concert.

Mike Regenstreif

Just got a call... my cousin is in town from BC, leaving Fiday, and has called a family gathering for tomorrow morning. Grrrrrrrrr. I hope that as soon as that there new-fangled podcast thingamajig is available, somebody posts the directions in this thread. Every time I try to "embrace the new technology", I get slapped like a masher.

Mick, let me know if ya need any help with that draggin' stuff. I don't know if he is an Irish or a Scot Murdoch, but, either way, he could be trouble. He IS Canuck, eh? Best keep yer eyes peeled either way.

Hi Gnu, etc....
Some mudcatters might even have jobs (unlike myself) but FR/FB starring MR can be downloaded after it's archived...
Find the show you want here...
http://www.ckutfolk.com/listen.html
...and click the right button on the mouse. OR option-click the only button.
This should cause the show to be transferred to the computer.
Then you need to play the mp3; lots of options; it will work with quicktime and/or iTunes, both available free.
Is that all clear as mud?
I'm not sure how quickly they archive, though...
hope this helps
(By the way those of you in faraway lands, this show is the best I've found so far, globally...)
cheers
John

Friends: As the night slowly falls on Montreal as we await the arrival of Uncle Brucie, sometimes affectionately(not THAT affectionately) known as "Mudrock", I thought I would offer a little story to all you who are, well, a little "uncomfortable" with the new tekkieschmekkie podcasterblaster #@$%#$&computer stuff that surrounds us.
The other day I decide it might be a good idea to contact SOCAN, the performing rights agency, since my new album just got released on all the download shops. And, as we all know, them thar royalties are a GOOD thing. So I call them up and tell them I was with BMI in 1969! and that I did one song on T.V. 6 minutes playing time = $400 in royalties in 1969 dollars. Booyeah! They ask, "What's your name?." I tell them and hear ferocious typing on the computer...They go, "Oh, yeah, you're right here, what's your new address and phone number?" So kids, that's 38 YEARS ago, and they STILL got me...
Which means, if some guy is taking a wee wee in Taiwan and he's humming one of my songs, these guys will find him.
So, Bruce on the radio with Mike VILL BE AVAILABLE! ZAT iss fer sure....
And, the tip for today is, don't put that white iPod your kid gave you for your birthday in the toaster, hoping it will turn a golden brown. It wants to be your friend, All's ya gots ta do is read them durn instructions!!!

I laugh with you...as I give my beloved computer a big hug and a kiss goodnight...
Baby, I really didn't mean all those things I said about computers in the first paragraph, oh come on now, download, download...aw %&$%*#$@!!!

bob

I heard the show though the stream when down midway and I missed the start of the interview with Bruce.
Wasn't too keen on the first guest, Ron Hynes. He was OK but just reinforced my suspicion that all Canadians sound the same. Except Gilles Vigneault.
But Bruce's songs were a bit different and he came across well.

Hi Bruce,

Hope you receive this. This is Sean's sister, Mary...after nigh these many years. Often thought of your wonderful music and all the great laughs we had (tee hee hee, as Sean would have said!) before you were Alberta Bound.

Cool, you will be in Ormstown this weekend. I will try to make if if I can, and if I dont, please remember that somewhere `lost on the high range and Gonyea just showed me the door`is alive and well in our hearts. Both Sean and Kenny, my other brother and a good musician in his own right, are gone now but by no means forgotten.

My email address is mary_bourdon@yahoo.com.
Take care and maybe we'll see you in Ormstown!

Mary
