Subject: Lyr Add: My Isle of Golden Dreams From: Peace Date: 27 Sep 07 - 08:32 PM "My Isle Of Golden Dreams - by Gus Kahn & Walter Blaufuss Out of the mist, lips I have kissed Call tenderly Out of the west, hands I have pressed Beckon to me Over the sea, waiting for me Lonely and blue Somebody sighs, somebody cries I love you, I love you Drifting in dreams, drifting it seems Back to the shore Where hand in hand, over the sand We'll stroll once more Heart of my heart, no more we'll part I hear her say But with the dawn, my dreams have gone Astray I hear the voice of my love Calling me it seems That fair Hawaiian island My isle of golden dreams Source: - This was the theme song for "Lake Placid Serenade", the 1940 Republic Studios movie starring Vera Ralston." That is from www.huapala.org/My/My_Isle_Of_Golden_Dreams.html The melody (sheet music} may be located at Indiana University Sheet Music Collections. It is on this page http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/sheetmusic/devincent.do?c=01&p=6&id=LL-SDV-149046&s=screen seemingly misplaced (?) or attached to "Irish were Egyptians long ago". |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: My Isle of Golden Dreams From: Stewie Date: 27 Sep 07 - 09:06 PM Wizard of the strings, Roy Smeck, recorded this in 1934. For a steel guitarist who was prone to flashiness, his recording is a model of restraint. Roy's Tropical Serenaders sing only the last 4 lines posted by Peace. It is the title track of a beaut album in Harlequin's Hawaiian series: 'Isle of Golden Dreams: Music of Hawaii' Harlequin HQ CD 112. --Stewie. |
