Subject: mandolin-harp From: Chet W. Date: 28 Apr 99 - 02:22 PM Just acquired a mandolin-harp at a net auction. It's different from the other so-named instruments I've seen in that it has what is almost a little keyboard, little lead hammers on the ends of strips of flexible spring steel for sounding the melody strings. Does anyone know a good source of information on this family of instruments, which I guess might be called modified zithers. There seems to have been a huge variety and interest in them at one time (the ukelin, the dulceola, etc.) but the only surviving member is the autoharp. I'd be grateful for any help. Chet W. |
