It's always a treat to hear Bruce's songs and I was particularly impressed with "I Can See You Now." But Jerry seemed very awkward as an interviewer: not knowing what to ask, going on about another Bruce he used to know, stopping Bruce in the middle of an answer to say he should sing now. It was like he wasn't really prepared.

Bob said,

"Hi Kids: Just finished listening to Bruce Murdoch on Gerry Goodfriends' Folk Directions/CKUT radio in Montreal...Another fine job guys..."

Nothing offensive there at all, yet such gallant replies! Like Ms Azizi, I'm sorry to miss that concert. I'm glad the radio broadcast went well.

Duh. Bob, after reading your last post, I don't see how I didn't figure out that interpretation of your "Now job guys." sentence.

As to "all women are beautiful", well, they say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And as far as I'm concerned, all the women and men who love good music are beautiful people.

**

Beer, perhaps another time. Since I'm in a folk saying mode today, here's another one-"where there's life, there's hope".

Azizi: By "guys", I was referring to Gerry & Bruce. But the knight in me has the deepest respect for all the damsels out there, and in my world, you are most welcome and by no means forgotten...
Or, as Reverend Gary Davis once told me, "All women are beautiful..."

I suppose us gals are included in that information about how Bruce did in that radio segment.

I'd love to know which songs Bruce sung...

Besides, I'm feeling down because not only can't I get that radio show but I can't transport myself-via a Star Trek transporter platform-to Sala Rosa in Montreal for Bruce's concert.

I suppose in time that kind of invention will be standard operating procedure. Too bad there's nothing like that now.

Leisure Suit: Yes, sure was a wacky time all around fashion wise...Almost forgot about the haircuts too! Business-side the 3-piece was de rigeur...Ties with Art-Nouveau paintings on them...
All this swirling around with jeans and tee shirts...

And isn't it curious that The Bruce Murdoch Podcast is with us today? Think about that a minute. Any time, any place, an artist can be heard by a whole new audience...
And I really wonder if the kids of today heard Bruce's "Che Guevarra" or "Can I Come Across To You" released with the photo from 33&1/3, just what the reaction would be? You know, don't tell 'em when it was done, just here's this new singer, and lay it on 'em. I think that would be really interesting...

As a major BM fan, I'm really looking forward to the show...

Bankster: "If I had a wife!"(rim shot please, remember, this is sho-biz)....

O.K. the rest of this should be read with a lisp:

Azizi: Those guys in the photo? Only one with chains! It just isn't done...
The white platforms and choice of heel, a serious fashion faux pas...
And the three of them don't look like they've had any drugs in the last 4 hours! POSERS!

No velour? Where are the shirts will frilled cuffs? No black corduroy? Obvously the photo is contrived by the grandchildren of the real thing who have never been there...( END-lisp)

There used to be this transvestite place on Peel in Montreal where I was hijacked by some "friends" to go see a show wearing one of those outfits, described above. The lead act was dressed as a Las Vegas showgirl, heels, thong(It's the same, old thong, the one you been wearin' since we've been goin' on- a song I've been working on for a while), anyway he/she was absolutely gorgeous, and was doing a magic act...
When she/he asked for a volunteer from the audience, my two friends were pointing
at me behind my back.
So me being the "FolkSwinger" that I was, and fearing no evil, went right on up there...
Whereupon he/she said to me, "look, I know you're straight, just play along." I can't stress enough how this guy had managed to transform himself into a beautiful woman, you had to see it to believe it...
Anyway, she/he pulls a rabbit out of a hat(no, really), me holding the hat with about 600 people of, how shall I put this, "alternative sexual orientation" looking on...One of the strangest sensations I've ever had...A great time...LOL. Respect to all. A fun memory.

This was just outside the time by a few years, where our BM was wearing a greenish army fatigue jacket, or woodsman's coat, and we were with Lindsay Cameron(Bless) and George Gruenfeld(Bless). I think back on those times and what a privilege it was to have known them...

Hi Kids! My wife's jealousy is getting rediculous...She saw my calendar and asked me:
WHO'S MAY!? (O.K. O.K., so I "borrowed" that one from Rodney Dangerfield...)

Hmmmm...O.K. Two Popes walk into a bar...Uh, wait a minute, that one bombed in Vegas. I guess I better work on some new material...

I know. I know. You are asking yourselves, "what the flag does this have to do with "Bruce Murdoch Podcast? "      Absolutely NOTHING!!!!

I'm just preparing for the PARTY that looks to be shaping up on Jan.4/08 at La Sala Rossa....

Uh Bruce. Are you going to wear a tie? Is it formal? Should I rent a tux? Or just the elk antlers
and jump suit fashion statement like the last time?

I wish to thank people for their many kind remarks. I will do one or two older songs, but quite truthfully, I don't really remember them. Presently--as in the past year or so--I have been very productive in terms of new songs and they have been my focus.

I was fortunate for the gig in that Noah Zacharin will be the opening act. He is a remarkable guitar player/writer/singer, and he's agreed to back me on a few songs during one of my two sets. And, bonus of all bonuses, Ron Bankley will be doing eight or so songs with me. Both these guys are excellent guitarists, and their ability to back the song/singer/performer is second to none I've heard or worked with in the past.

I have not been on Mudcat much because it's just been too busy in preparation for this gig and Gerry's radio show. There are also a few other things on the go in Montreal at that time including some studio time and I'm looking forward to that in a big way. I am both flattered and humbled to read the things people have written here and I will do my best not to let y'all down.

Thank you again.

BM
