Subject: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: kendall Date: 19 Aug 08 - 07:33 PM My good wife, Jacqui, left for her visit to Old Blighty at 2:30 pm today. Seamus is so depressed, he will mope for at least a week. I hope all you English types realize what a problem it is for Seamus and me to loan her to you for the next three weeks! |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Rapparee Date: 19 Aug 08 - 08:00 PM Kendall, Blighty survived MY wife a couple years ago. Of course, it hasn't been the same since.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Sorcha Date: 19 Aug 08 - 08:55 PM Kendall, if it can survive ME and YOU at the same time, surely it can survive a native daughter for a few weeks? Now, you and Seamus...that is a different story. I assume you DO know how to run the washer and microwave? Or how to call for take away? |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 19 Aug 08 - 09:26 PM Seamus may be depressed, but how are YOU, Kendall-me-love? |

Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Morticia Date: 20 Aug 08 - 03:46 AM Loan? Loan??? You mean we have to give her back? This requires thinking about, although I hate to think of Seamus moping. |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Sooz Date: 20 Aug 08 - 03:56 AM Looking forward to seeing her at Gainsborough Folk Club next week - why don't you come with her next time, Kendall? |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: GUEST,Daffy Date: 20 Aug 08 - 04:04 AM Hope she packed a canoe, it hasn't stopped raining ! If she meets two Englishmen standing together and they are not talking, it's because nobody has introduced them ! they can be a little standoffish |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Leadfingers Date: 20 Aug 08 - 06:06 AM I hope to drag her off to an Evening Bash tonight ! Report will follow . Dont worry Kendall , we'll look after her for you and Seamus . |

Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: WalkaboutsVerse Date: 20 Aug 08 - 07:32 AM There's been strife in the life of your wife, Kendall? |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: maeve Date: 20 Aug 08 - 07:41 AM How nice that Jacqui can have a visit to her other home, knowing she'll be happy to come Home to her beloved Kendall soon. Likely she'll be glad to see Seamus too. |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: SINSULL Date: 20 Aug 08 - 08:18 AM My post went "walkies". I was complaining that I have no one to play with. And with Seamus on bed rest I have only the kitties to commiserate with. BIG SIGH |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Rapparee Date: 20 Aug 08 - 08:54 AM Kendall. Remember these important tips for bachelor cooking: 1. ALWAYS take the TV dinner OUT of the package before microwaving it. 2. Nontoxic in, nontoxic out. |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: kendall Date: 20 Aug 08 - 09:52 AM Have you folks ever wondered how I got on before I met Jacqui? As for laundry, I was in charge of the ship's laundry back in the mid 50's, and I did my own laundry all the years I was single too. Food? I'm not a bad cook either. She stuffed both freezers with all kinds of food. |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: katlaughing Date: 20 Aug 08 - 10:12 AM Seamus on bedrest?? This is something new?*bg* I hope he's okay?!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Becca72 Date: 20 Aug 08 - 11:18 AM Poor ole Seamus has a herniated disc in his neck, Kat. |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: katlaughing Date: 20 Aug 08 - 02:50 PM Oh, no! Poor fellow...how the heck did he...no don't answer that! How do they treat it? Poor Seamus and his mom left him?! Thanks, Becca.:-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Becca72 Date: 20 Aug 08 - 03:10 PM No problem. I can empathize with the poor thing (only mine was at L5-S1). They have him on steroids (Prednisone...it worked wonders for me) and they're hoping it will resolve on its own. He's such a sweet boy you just hate to think he doesn't feel well. He was very much enjoying the attention of my nephew's girlfriend the other day, I can tell you. Like father like dog. |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: katlaughing Date: 20 Aug 08 - 03:16 PM Ugh, prednisone can be nasty stuff, though! I've been on it for allergic reactions before. I hope he laps up all the attention he can get and does feel better! |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: kendall Date: 20 Aug 08 - 07:42 PM He has not shown any signs of "roid rage" |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Leadfingers Date: 20 Aug 08 - 07:52 PM First report !! Jacqui has been out in the wilds of Southern England (The Prince Albert in Frieth) and met Marlow Bottom Acoustic Club . Returned safely to Shepperton , and claims to have enjoyed the evening . She has now heard Dick Frost , Wild Flying Dove , Bubblyrat , Dave and Alison Fenner and several other Folkies of various persuasions . And I Quote - " What a Lovely Start to my trip" |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 21 Aug 08 - 01:25 AM Are you bringing her to Towersey or do I miss her again? LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: jacqui.c Date: 21 Aug 08 - 04:25 AM Hi to all I've finally got a PC up and working this morning. Having had a terrific time last night - what wonderful singers they have at Marlow Bottom - I'm off to pick up the grandson and head north to Newark for the next couple of weeks, although I'm planning on taking Lewis off away on adventures during that time. I'm hoping to try and get to Towersey on the Sunday and don't fret Liz - I shall be doing my best to get to East London at some point. First off, I have to get orders from my daughter about where I HAVE to be at any given time (i.e. Lewis's birthday party) and then I can plan everything else. Kendall is quite capable of coping with life on his own but I do miss both him and Seamus. Teleportation would be a great idea for me! |

Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: Leadfingers Date: 26 Aug 08 - 11:10 AM I didnt get there either ! Home from the Ferry Gig at 1725 , but decided that a further 80 mile round trip would NOT be a good idea ! |

Subject: RE: BS: Is England ready for my wife? From: mouldy Date: 27 Aug 08 - 04:30 AM When I lived in S. Africa we had about 65 miles (98km) each way twice a week to get to our respective morris practices. Then usually around the same if we had dance-outs. Having got used to getting into a car and driving fairly hefty distances, I still do around 18000 miles a year. (Given the price of diesel, I am trying to cut down a bit). Hope Jacqui is having a wonderful time. pity I won't get to thank her in person for the lovely shawl and baby blanket she has graced us with lately. Andrea |
