Its Friday 13th. The day when nobody ventures outside for fear of something dreadful happening.

Just wondered if anybody had any bad luck stories related to Friday 13th (funny ones are allowed -)).

Has anything happened to you today?

I got dumped on Friday December 13th, over twenty years ago. Dumped by phone, too, the b*****d!

You can tell it made an impact as I don't remember the dates of any other significant ends of relationships. I can remember all the details - I was in the middle of cooking steaks for our dinner when the phone call came. I was also almost at the end of knitting him a personalised sweater, with a busking Rupert Bear on the front and back. That made for a very therapeutic few hours of violent unravelling!

My uncle would not get out of bed on a Friday the 13th except to go to the toilet.

Me I am not superstitious. Having said that, I did take a flexi day today, but it is only a happy accident.

It has always been a lucky day for me. Thirteen is a mystical number.

Also, I've read that in Belgium, it is considered good luck for a woman to wear the number 13 in the form of a jewellery charm or somesuch.

In numerology, reducing it by adding 1 + 3 we get 4 which is a number of completion and stability as in the base of a pyramid having four sides, etc.

It's just a day.
That said, I woke up in the wee hours with 1) a cold I didn't have before, and 2) a migraine. I've never had both at the same time and I thought colds do something that prevents migraines (no clue what).

Anyway, I feel like hammered dog shit.

Oh, and something happened in my well that has made my water gross. Normally, it's a nice clear brownish color, but now it's full of cloudy brown stuff (iron) and some black stuff (manganese). My guess is that all the run-off from the snow melt has seeped into the well from higher-than-usual and knocked some slime loose. Either that, or the snakes that hibernate down there all went for a swim.

You know, in Italy, it's Friday 17th that has unlucky connotations. Friday 13th is just another day. You could fly out to Italy on the 12th (just make sure the flight doesn't go past midnight, get an early one!!!!!) The number 17 is generally considered unlucky in Italy. There's no room 17 in the hotel etc., That's why I tend to ignore both numbers and just get on with it.... very quietly, in case I tempt fate.....

Okay, I'm alright now.

I went to work, I took a shower, I got up. Friday the 13th doesn't faze me, not as long as I can crouch here in the corner of the basement with my body aligned in a north-south manner so that the lines of magnetic force run through me lengthwise and the hemoglobin in my blood isn't mysteriously replaced with hemocyanin.

Once had an unlucky Saturday the 13th. My 16th birthday in April 1974. Family forgot. Not exactly the 16 Candles scenario. Dad out of work and depressed. Mom overworked and worried.

Actually was more unlucky when they did remember a couple of weeks later. I felt so bad for them. I was a bit pissed that none of my siblings or extended family or friends remembered. But I was very good at being invisible.

I had a terrible time today.
Pete Coe & Sue Coe arrived for their gig. Nobody had arrived to see them, because of the snow. Also Gwenda & terry didn't arrive to do the PA.
Anyway being the true professionals that they are, they got on stage and Pete played a tune and Sue did some flat footing.
When they had finished that, they got off stage and demanded there fee and they were going home. I asked them how much they would accept as their fee, considering they had only done one tune. Pete demanded £10,000. I told him I hadn't got that sort of money and did a runner. Pete came after me and just when he was about to hit me, I woke up.

Blimey was I relieved.

True dream.

I suppose some might say I was lucky I woke up, before Pete hit me. :-)

Mustn't look at the weather forecasts in future. Funnily enough Pete had rung me last night and I had some cheese before retiring to bed. That will teach me. :-)

I was getting ready to go out to meet the schoolbus once, when I was in early grade school. Someone in the family mentioned offhand that it was friday the 13th. I asked what that was about. I then stepped out on the porch, slipped on a spot of ice, and landed on my arse so hard it hurt like hell.

Discovered our cellar was flooded to a depth of 2 inches... it's been deeper but I had no reason to look down there last week when the snow was melting. It's just where the drains are inundated with the extra rain we've had. It's all drained away today.

I've never had any of what I'd call bad luck on a Friday the 13th -- usually the opposite.

I started my current job on a Friday the 13th -- filled out the app on the beginning of the week, my birthday. And considering how I was running into age discrimination (I think) at the time, and the dearth of jobs n the general job market since I landed this one, I think it was, indeed, a lucky thing to happen.
