Rapaire--what is that little box with the FF/FD inside, which apparently replaces an 'e'? I once came upon a web page where quoted texts were were written such that that box separated each letter, making it damn near impossible to read the text.

Same old crap is already underway. Obama has said he would would like to make the NAFTA side agreements on the environment and such formal parts of NAFTA.

I hope Harper shows some balls and says, "If you like our tar sands oil, fine. If not, we can sell it to China. Maybe you can burn more coal. Oh, yeah, Japan called about a load of lumber... speaking of which, when are you gonna pony up with the $6B you owe us..."

Tomorrow, Obama comes to Ottawa for 5 hours (be still my beating heart) to hold a press conference with our beloved Prime minister, and a drafty twenty minutes in an airport hangar with the Opposition Leader, Michael "How High Shall We Jump For You?" Ignatieff.   This second coming of the first coming has the entire nation in the kind of swoon that would disgrace a nineteenth century matron in a tight corset.

The historical parallel that comes to mind is the leader of the Gauls, Vercingetorix, in chains, discussing things with the latest Roman emperor.

Bah, humbug.
