On another subject, I've loaded MOAB in a separate window on my PC. I figure it will take all day to read, so I won't suffer withdrawal. C |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Max Date: 27 Feb 09 - 05:34 PM You may. The address change is propogating. I have one computer that can get to mudcat.org and one that can't, so once it all settles, cookies should work again. I can't get my cookie to set when I use the back door. still working, but I think all we need now is some time. ... |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: gnu Date: 27 Feb 09 - 05:35 PM Richard.... looks smooth from here??? ... except that some threads do not show a "PM" option after the name. Minor glitch, I expect. |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Big Mick Date: 28 Feb 09 - 03:46 PM this is also posted in the other thread running on the subject. Mick I expected nothing less. My buddy is a whiz, and I am constantly blown away by his unique ability to juggle so many balls. I think, if the head examine folks were to peek in there, they would find that he is the perfect blend of insane IQ, ADHD, and a dude who just loves folks and family, life, music, and a beagle. Actually, I hope they don't figure out the beagle, cause that might be grounds for committal. I don't think they allow mudcat boxes in a padded cell......LOL. The insane IQ allows him to resolve problems quickly, and then the ADHD kicks in and he moves on to something else, like family, friends, music, and the beagle. The love of all that keeps him checking in until there is a problem again...... then he focuses on fixing it, and getting back on with loving life... see how it works? And we are all the happy recipients of this wonder of nature, and we are all over the world. I'm tellin' ya .... we are the world ...... we are the children .... we are I'll get me aul cap and wellies and see meself out...... All the best, Mick |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Rasener Date: 02 Mar 09 - 05:08 AM Hi Max Thanks for all your effort. One thing I have noticed is that normally, having read the latest post in a thread, the thread title changes colour to indicate that there are no new posts. However, I am finding that the threads that I have looked at are not changing colour. I go back in and there are no new posts. It seems to be an intermittant issue. For me it's not a big issue, but thought I would point it out as backburner issue. Maybe its just a teething issue. Cheers Les Worrall |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 02 Mar 09 - 05:29 AM Yes, I've found the same thing, though as Les says, it's intermittent. Also, sometimes when I click Submit - with the preview box NOT ticked, so the message should then appear on the boards - it can just disappear without a trace or visible effect. A number of brilliant pearls of wisdom have been lost to civilisation that way. Now I scribble my sacred utterances down on Wordpad or TextEdit before sending them on their way, and sometimes I need to go back and copy-paste them again: it usually works on the second try, though once it took about four attempts. (Maybe the fates were trying to tell me something?) I use both Windows-XP-Firefox, and Apple-OSX-Safari&Firefox. I think it has happened with both machines but can't be sure. It definitely happens with Windows. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: MartinRyan Date: 02 Mar 09 - 10:31 AM I'm relieved to see that I'm not hallucinating - getting the same effects intermittently here. Regards |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Bill D Date: 02 Mar 09 - 12:52 PM This disappering post problem has been around for ages. I 'think' it has more to do with your browser's cache than Mudcat. After having it happen to me a couple of times, I have just adopted the habit of checking after I post...then, if it didn't 'take', I use my *back* button to return to what I typed. It should still be there....until you close your browser. Then I copy it, return to the main page and ***RELOAD*** Mudcat. Note..NOT 'refresh'. Reload puts a new copy of the Mudcat forum in the browser's cache, whereas 'refresh' may only get an older copy. Then I return to the thread, paste in my post, and submit again. All this takes only about 5 seconds. I frankly do not know the technical details of everything that is happening, or why at a certain point Mudcat & your browser don't listen to each other...but it does work to do the 'reload' bit. Yes, it does also work to do composing in WORD or some other program, but I never remember. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: katlaughing Date: 02 Mar 09 - 01:11 PM Or, just highlight and copy what you've written in the text box and you'll have it available if the post doesn't go through. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Bill D Date: 02 Mar 09 - 01:28 PM Yes if you remember each time..I don't ☺...but the post 'can' disappear more than once if the cache problem persists. I forgot to mention that if it is a continuing problem, there are settings for each browser to control cache behavior - how often it is refreshed, how large it is...etc. My Opera version has a setting called "Check how often page is updated on the server" ...right now it is "every 2 hours", with options for "always", "never", and then from 5 minutes to weekly. It could help to play with those settings. (No,I have no idea how you do it in IE) |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Bill D Date: 02 Mar 09 - 01:31 PM (I make the effort to suggest these things regularly, because we keep getting accusations from folks that their posts are being deleted. This is only rarely the case) |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Megan L Date: 02 Mar 09 - 01:33 PM Another cause for missing posts as I discovered when tired the other night is hitting the forum home button rather than submit :) |
