Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Bill D Date: 02 Mar 09 - 02:26 PM I suspect that *IF* you were to set your browser to update the cache 'always'..that is, every time you post or access a page, this would not happen. The down side is that folks on slower connections would find it taking too long to do anything. As more & more folks get fast broadband, it is less of an issue and updating the entire page is barely noticable....for the average site. One can experiment. I find that my 'every 2 hours' setting seems to work ok, so I don't mess with it... (I think it was the default when I got the browser) |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 02 Mar 09 - 02:52 PM ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Hee hee hee - I copy-pasted Giok's three smileys, which on screen shows the smiley and in the preview text box shows the numbers & # 9 7 8 6 but without the spaces. Then I tried typing them manually and got the one in the second row. That must be how to do it on a Mac laptop, which is what I'm using. Gonna go harvest the other numbers now - but I'll spare you all the fruits of my efforts. |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: OldPossum Date: 03 Mar 09 - 01:54 AM The Villan in his message at 02 Mar 09 - 05:08 AM mentioned threads not changing colour after he visited them. I notice that the links in the graphic at the top now start with http://mudcat.org while all the other links still start with http://www.mudcat.org like they always did. This could be the explanation. With two different names for the web address the browser thinks it is two different pages even though we know they should be the same, so visited pages (changed colour) will appear as not visited (blue) if you click on the top graphic. Does this make sense? |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Nigel Parsons Date: 05 Mar 09 - 11:31 AM Often thread titles appear not to change colour after you have visited them because you return to the threads list by hitting 'Back'. This takes you to the page you have already seen, as it was when you visited it To see the updated list of threads, go to "Lyrics & knowledge" instead (top left of the screen)! Cheers Nigel |

I use them a lot for my foreigh language FAQs. see Russian but if you save the page I am not sure it saves all the fancy codes Not all browsers show all codes. If you look on several browsers you will get the idea, most of the code I had problems with were in the High Numbers. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Joe Offer Date: 22 Apr 09 - 04:11 PM I got a phone call from a Mudcatter last night. He said Mudcat was down Monday and Tuesday mornings. I was gone Monday, but I noticed Tuesday that at about noon Mudcat time (9 AM my time), Mudcat had a "placed offline by operator" message off and on. Today, I notice that Mudcat is very slow at times. I e-mailed Max, and he said that Mudcat has been slow or offline because he has been fixing and tweaking things. This process will continue over the next couple of weeks, so don't worry about it. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update 2-25-09 From: Leadfingers Date: 22 Apr 09 - 04:35 PM I PM'd Max when it came back up - He confirmed he was working on it . So look for the "placed offline by operator" message if you cant get in ! |
