Should have started this a week ago for the Equinox, but hey, I was busy, OK?!

Inspired by this posting:

It is mud season in Maine. Soon to be followed by summer - most likely July 22, this year. Then fall and winter again. I feel like we're in a rut. The same all thing every year.

Had my oatmeal and coffee this morning. An apple later for a snack. maybe a bit of JD ont he rocks is in order.

Janie, wake up! We are waiting for a story.

I'll declare the Tavern open for Springlings.

Spring is sprung, der grass is riz,
I wonder where dem boidies is?
The little boids is on the wing.
But dat's obsoid, de wings is on de boid!
(Wish I could either a) remember the author or b) get Wikipediment at work!)

And he enters, singingly, strumming on his twelve-string banjo-lute:

Now is the month of Maying
When merry lads are laying
Fa la la la la la la la
Repeat

Each with his bonny lass
Get-ting a little ass
Lewdly sing cuckoo!

Sidling up to the bar he asks for whisky and oatmeal.

"Gotta keep the old ticker healthy," he says as he dunks his watch into the gluey mess.

I've got several gross of Deviled MOA eggs back in the kitchen. A little spicy though. I think I shouldn't have used the poweder habeneros instead of paprika.

The pickled Auk Eggs turned out great, though (pun intended!)

Reminds me of Kendall singing The Haying Song - drink from the spring, get mud on your knees and make sure it's dry when you put it away.

Guess I will start my own story...once, long ago, in atown up north, a strange puppy was born...

The smallest of a litter of six, in *most* ways he was a perfectly normal sample of beagle. But instead of the normal beagle colours and pattern he was tiger striped! And to make matters worse, he was tiger-striped in deep irish setter red on a black background!

When people came in to look at the puppies the strange little puppy would hide in the darkest corner of the kennel. Because he had no white markings to give him away,he went un-noticed in the shadows for quite some time.

By coincidence, the man who bought the puppy shared a name with an infamous football player, but they were not one and the same. This particular Michael Vick was of the Vick's cough and cold remedy clan. He didn't even like American football.

If only we had a blue whale...alive, alive-o. Like poor Molly Malone, in Dublin's fair city where girls are so pretty, where I first sank me fangs in sweet Molly Malone. That's how my old buddy Vlad used to sing it. He always said that she now wheels her wheelbarrow through crypts broad and narrow. Odd chap, Vlad. Haven't seen him since I invited him to a steak dinner. Just as well, I guess, he was always sticking his friends for the drinks. Said he was trying to cure his constant coffin.

Another bloody Mary, please.

Unfortunately, the puppy would have been better off if the Michael Vick who purchased him had been the football player. If that were the case, he would only be starved, abused, and used in illegal dogfights. But the Michael Vick who did buy the puppy had far worse things in mind. Yes, his plans were to give the puppy a mega-dose of Vick's Nyquil and have him (shudder!!!) operate machinery!

Shades of Dallas - the above was just a bad dream that the poor little tiger striped beagle had.
IN REALITY, a nice lady from Maine fell in love with the little fella and took him back to her home in South Portland where Alice the Cat decided he must be one of her long gone kittens. She was happy to nurse him and cuddle him and include the little guy in all her kitty adventures.

Some idle (I almost wrote 'idol') here:

When where there are penguins there are whales is a true statement. Why is not its reverse true?

Why does the Antarctic have penguins but no polar bears?

Why does the Arctic have polar bears but no penguins?

Now if someone will pour me an Alaskan Amber (You do have Amber here, don't you?) I will subside.

Ebbie, Inuit history explains it all:

There used to be penguins where there are polar bears, but the polar bears ate all of them. In the Old South (as the Inuit call it) the reverse happened.

You say that the battle is over
You say that the war is all done
Tell it to those with the wind in their nose
Who run from the sound of a gun...

Is lime Jell-O made form horses' hooves?
I am seriously thinking of becoming a vegetarian...

The Arctic doesn't have penguins because it has puffins. The Antarctic doesn't have puffins because it has penguins. The two fill pretty much the same niche. If you've ever seen video footage of puffins feeding underwater, they swim almost as well as penguins. The main difference between the two, other than that puffins can still fly, is that penguins wear tuxedos while puffins wear clown suits.

Fang stood for NewFangled. The puppy was actually the result of a secret government cloning project gone awry.

Wonder if we should bring the Christmas Tree down from the rafters? Anyone seen the duck?

No squid; no duck; not even that annoying mouse. I may just take Fang and go home. Shades of Cartman - "Screw you guys! I'm going home. No kitty! This is my Chocolate Covered Chicken nuggets."

Penguin egg omelette for breakfast, what a treat!

And all that penguin poop has got to be good for the roses, what with the high fish meal content...

Did I hear someone Quack?

I was a bit far away *************** so haven't been in the wardrobe that opens into here for a while.
Why does it stink of fish and penguin poop?
Quack!

Fill me up again, I need to keep my strength up for Limpit's piano lesson tomorrow (well, later today really, now....) because if her practice was anything to go by, the lesson is going to be an ordeal for me!

Gimme something hard and strong please... had another disturbed night - this time due to my bloody sister sending me a text message at bloody 3.00am! You really think that after 20+ years living in the southern hemisphere, she would know what the fecking time difference is!

And yes, I know I could turn my mobile phone off at night, but I don't. I have a pathological need to know people can contact me in an emergency without waking the whole house.

Trouble is, my sister has a strange idea of what is an emergency and what isn't. Last time she waited 3 days to tell me that my mother was in hospital. Last night was the 'I think you better try to get over here' call, that could have waited 4 hours for either of us. Not a lot I can do until the bank opens at 9, so telling me at 3 just gave me a sleepless night.

Ho hum... off to check up on cheap flights now, to see if it's even worth approaching the bank.

It's worth approaching the bank. That way you can be certain the sign on the door reads "Closed -- Out Of Money" instead of something else.

Go.

I went to my bank this morning. The computers were down, the phones weren't working nor the ATMs. I made a deposit and discovered that they had put the wrong amount in the wrong account. I tried to call but...yup, the phones are down. So no I have an extra $500 in my account.

Which in no way rectifies the steak situation. What is this glop?????

Same here Sins... a fire not too far away took out an electrical sub-station, which in turn has taken out part of the telephone system. No phones, no computers at the bank so a queue out the door - although the 'hole in the wall' things were working... go figure!

I really really need that drink now... we're leaving next Monday on Dubai airlines.

Before you go, would you please see if you can stop the penguins from hanging on the rafters about the ceiling fans? I know they enjoy it, but it's really hitting the fans.

Oboy, sounds like folks are having those weeks already.

It is an absolutely stunningly gorgeous day here today and I will bring some of it in right here through the western door. Blue sky, 70 degrees, pouring down sunshine. y'know, that thermonuclear stuff we still have not harnessed near well enough.

Now, if only I had an alternative source of income to my job ...

Yeah, a stiff one before I have to go back tomorrow.

Those aren't penguins, Rap. They are nuns, short nuns. All escaped from a retreat at a local center - local to the east door anyway. Someone got into the communion wine and...well, there you go.

Does anyone know the correct ratio when you substitute MOA eggs for regular eggs in a meringue recipe? I'm trying to make a Kiwi Pavlova and we're out of hen's eggs.

FOX NEWS Exclusive - Live and Balanced Reporting. Members of the notorious terrorist group "Little Sisters of World Domination" have been reported sighted in varying locals throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The "Little Dictators" as they are known to Homeland Security normally confine their activities to the southern hemisphere but seem to recently be expanding their range. Experts caution that the Sisters are identifiable due to their uniformly short starture and their distinctive black and white habits, with a bill shaped orange wimple.

I believe it is 1 tablespoon of sugar to every 1/2 cup of egg whites. Beat until glossy - the nuns can help you there. They have had lots of practice.

Can you believe it - Sister Blister has the squid wrapped up in a chain of rosary beads. They seem to be planning a take over. DUCK! Incoming! That crucifix nearly took out the Laproiagh!
