If only I could aspire to feeling 'a bit achey'... last night's choir rehearsal was more exhausting than a 2hr workout! 'Completely knackered' is more like it today, so much so that I'm seriously considering a trip down to the local ER!

However, I've had little appetite recently (apart from the chocolate) so I've eaten less.. hopefully that will show at the weigh-in tonight, should I be able to drag my poor, exhausted body up the road.

Yay, Liz!

When you really need to watch it is when you get your appetite back. Your body wants to keep hold; just be gentle but fitm with it.

Qi gong - 25 minutes, finally, first time in months and I didn't run out of breath!

Lots of housework activity today, too, which gained me some points. Wed. is weigh-in day.

I'm hapy to say I was 179 at the Y.

It is the first time I have been below 180 in 12 years.

I'm not sure why such a large weight drop since the last weigh in, but I guess it has been 2 weeks, and maybe losing a lot of water weight.

I'm just getting over a bad cold (hence very bad on workouts)and that must make a difference, tho' as Kat once noted, not a good way to go.

Anyway, it IS something to be happy about.

My endo said last week I could go off my insulin shots as my numbers remained good, and that was one of my goals, so it's a happy happy.

That's fantastic, MAG! I lost this week, but because of the meds over the past two months, I am higher than I was when I started WW last fall. Picked myself and started all over again.:-)

Another half pound gone, so now 14.10 1/2... still under 15stones which is a good thing! Seems the meds I'm on are surpressing my appetite and the enforced resting means I'm sleeping more, obviously going to work is bad for me!

Only another pound to go and I'll've lost a stone and a half (21lbs) in just under a year. Not exactly hitting my targets in a hurry, but at least it is now going in the right direction! Blood test results should be in next week so I'll see what difference if any, it's made to the overall health, and whether the troublesome liver has been sorted.

MAG,

HOORAY!!!!!!!!!! Isn't no more insulin shots a GREAT feeling? I don't miss mine at all and am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I must have caught your cold. BLAH. Yoga is nearly impossible with a drippy nose so I've not been going. I did do some walking today and a bit of weeding...other than that, it's been take it easy time for me. I feel like I've hit a brick wall.

In other news, I've made a new local friend who is interested in kayaking and walking (possibly yoga too)!!! I'm always glad to find folks to exercise with and who are on the same path as I am. :)

Thanks, Michelle...you and MAG are inspiring, so that helps, believe me. Another thing, my ex, who is still 6'2" and well-kept, was over the other day. When we were young and stupid, he used to tell me I looked "short and dumpy" when I was 5'2" and 115 lbs! One of the reasons I got rid of him.

Now, we are both so much wiser and kinder to one another - good friends. So, he was over to visit and we were talking about my efforts to lose weight, etc. Again, he pledged his support of whatever I may need to help me reach those goals and, in fact, said "we" will do what needs to be done to get me there. He is retired on disability and so has the time which my Rog does not, to really give some time to helping me and I am grateful.

Qi gong - 25 minutes (last night)

Did 4 mile walk this morning before the sun got too hot. Only pushing single buggy with George as Harry and Amelia had the morning with their nana so I could go to the doctors.

Doctor was really positive. I was weighed and he was impressed with my efforts and weight loss. So far I have lost 4 stone since having the twins. I can't believe it! He has recommended losing another stone to stone and a half. I'm no longer classed as obese, just over weight. It feels great to not have the obese label anymore. Doctor has changed my meds for my PCOS, still on the metformin but given me a better pill. I've got a referal to the hospital for laser hair removal which I'm still impressed I can have on the NHS.

Down 1.6 pounds this week!

I am absolutely ECSTATIC about this because yesterday I downed 3 hot dogs.....I know...they are SO FREAKIN' BAD for me but I had a craving that has been going on for a least a week. I did it. They weren't that great and I probably won't want another one for a very long time!

Also, I made plans to go walking with 2 different people this week and am setting up a kayaking adventure for many of the WW gals who are showing interest...so far, there's 25 of us!!!!!! YAY!

yeah, on the whole everyone seems to be doing quite well.

Michelle, please don't let that brick wall hold you back; it will be hitting you off and on for awhile and with hope by then something else will have happened.

Don't worry about the hot dogs; it's important that they did not taste that good. It is something to remember the enxt time the craving for that food comes; remember the not-tasting-good.

That worked with one of my major binge foods which I will not mention in order not to set off anyone's craving ...

I was bad today.

\the guy who treats with pizza was at work today and the slices were smal, so I told myself I could have one small piece.

By the time we got out of there I had had considerably more.

It is a good reminder to myself that I can't start.

I am cutting out a couple of items in my diet that are salty so we will see if I lose water weight.

Once in a great while I will have a thin crust small Pizza Hut cheese pizza. ON WW, each slice is only 2 points, so I can have 2-3 slices without breaking the bank. Also, Michelle, there are some really good soy dogs on the market, now. They even sell them at the regular markets. You do have to watch the salt, but they aren't as much as regular hot dogs, I don't think and they are much healthier for you.

I did a 20 minute walk pushing a heavy cart with a big O2 bottle in it, today. I was going to do more, but Rog told me to stop.

I tried doing something new yesterday and wound up with an atrial fibrillation (first time ever!) and visiting the ER for a couple of hours! It was a combo of chemicals still being out of whack a bit, too much salt in one meal, and too much on-my-own activity with Morgan. I am fine and the bloodwork, etc. all came up normal, so we've just adjusted a med. and things are fine. BUT, I am reminded, once again, ALL things in MODERATION and take it SLOW!*bg*

I did lose 1.6 lbs this past week, too. Found that out at the doc's on Tuesday just before an old lady had a heart attack and ploughed into the wall by the weight machine with her car, breaking a water pipe to the whole building which spewed in my doc's exam room. It's been an exciting week!

I was out kayaking today for about an hour and a half. The water started out deceivingly calm...not that I was in troublesome water, just required a bit more OOMPH on my part...not necessarily a bad thing! We left the water about 10 minutes before it started to rain.....not bad for timing! While I was out I saw 2 herons and several turtles...both of which I love! :)

Hi, folks. I posted this in the "gardening" thread, but I thought I'd repeat it here for those that might not see it.

"Last Friday, my friend & I went to see the new documentary movie Food, Inc (there's a link in the gardening thread). It's enough to make you want to run right out and buy canning jars to preserve your own food. It started me thinking about what we ate when I was a kid: a roast on Sunday & leftovers during the week, dessert also was a Sunday-only thing (not at every meal)."

There were some graphic parts, but worth seeing. None of it came as a surprise, because I'd heard most of those things before. But, when you see it all strung together like that, it's no wonder we're getting fatter. We all deserve a round of applause for overcoming the media blitz that tries to stuff food into us every minute of our waking lives.

As a result, I'm trying to delay gratification on some things. I'll postpone an iced-mocha drink until the weekend, and then order a "small" instead of a "medium". Little things that enable me to take back control. I cooked oatmeal for breakfast. Tonight I'm making homemade soup, with a lot less salt. I'm not expecting to lose weight, but I hope to eat healthier.

Maryanne

I postpone stuff too Maryanne. My latest thing is coffee from McDonalds. I know...not very exciting but I really (REALLY) like their regular coffee. I buy it, go to my meeting and it's usually cool enough to drink by the time the meeting is over. I have coffee at home so this really shouldn't be a big deal but I just like thiers BETTER!

No activity per say for today unless you count waiting on a husband who is down with a miserable cold. Poor guy. I hate when he's sick (I don't mind waiting on him, I just don't like to see him hurting).

I am planning a kayak outing for my Weight Watcher friends, some who have never been in kayak....so far I'm up to 24 people and counting! I am SOOO excited to be able to share this with them. It wasn't but a few years ago when I thought I was *too fat* to even try kayaking.....I thought I'd try it after I lost 50 pounds or so...and then I thought about it for a minute and decided, "What the hell am I waiting for?" And that was it for me. I walked in a store, told them what I was after, they took me out and the rest is history. Why wait to pursue things that make you happy until you are a certain size. PHOOEY! Do it now! Enjoy yourself NOW!!!!

XOXOXOXO

Michelle

I saw Food, Inc on Sunday.

it is a compelling documantary about what's wrong with our (food) system.

If you have read Michael Pollen's book(s) a lot of it is NOT news, but his interviews combined with what the industry has done to the small organic farmer plus what Monsanto has done to bully folks plusthe corn subsidies and consequent cheap corn having such far flung effects as putting all the Mexican corn farmers out of business, it is enough to put you off all grocery stories.

I stopped by Thundering Hooves and bought a pound of their $5 hamburger -- I can't afford anything else they sell -- just as a gesture of support.

Oh, and yes, I finally got back to my workouts this morning.

Best of luck for the weigh in Liz, let us know how you get on.

Thank you Eye Lander, some times I find it hard like everyone else fitting in exercise and finding the motivation especially with the hot weather. I have a goal to achieve for next next year and my big motivation is being fit and well for my children.

I've more than doubled my fundraising target for the Race for Life on 19th July, hopefully the weather won't be as hot as this week so I'll be able to run it and not walk it!!

Last night I did my 2 mile walk, an hours step aerobics and a 2 mile jog home. Feel great but the backs of my legs ache lots this morning, I can't have stretched enough when I got home.

Hey...me too with the sleeplessness. What's with that? Tonight, however, I am up late because I was doing something that interested me and I've lost track of time. I planned out ALL my meals and snacks for the week including the points. Now if I can just stick to it. I usually plan day by day because when I make these longer term menus I have a dilemma. I look at the menu and decide I don't want that...I want something else. I guess that makes me pretty damn fortunate that I have that option, right? Well, for the next 7 days, I am going to commit to this menu. I made it so it's reasonable and I shouldn't be hungry. We'll see.

I'm off to bed to read....MAYBE I'll actually fall asleep tonight before 3:00!

Saw a new doc who immediately put me on Lunesta; seemed surptised it hadn't been tried -- already sleeping better.

175 at the Y yesterday. It must be the no-salt. Otherwise I'd actually be a bit worried.

The week before I had given up salt until after the endo appointment; otherwise she wants to put me on yet another med, for high blood pressure. Then I said to myself, self, says I, maybe if salt raises your blood sugar that many points, it is not good for you. Hence: switched from salted nuts to not salted nuts (nuts make up a significant part of my diet), and very little salting of anything else, inclding scramled eggs.

A good idea to cut down on the salt.. you can always add salt, but you can't take it out again once you've added it. If you're finding your food a little bland, try adding fennel or dill to your scrambled eggs, or some mixed herbs.

You may want to review your nut intake too - some of them are notoriously fatty, especially cashews.

We cut out additional salt years ago and went to sea salt. My doc recently said I could have a teaspoon of it per day, but that seems like too much to my taste buds. I still crave it in certain foods which I will not name so as not to temp myself or anyone else. I have had a miserable time sticking to points this week. I've just started my new week and have already used some of my extra one, though I am able to add a tiny bit of exercise again for the first time in month, each day. When I don't feel really well I want food that is comforting. I've found what really triggers it is not being able to get out on my own. I will be able to, again, soon, but it is getting tiresome not to be able to.

Back to the salt, it really angers me when I see foods claim to be all organic and healthy choices, etc. then if oyu look at the sodium it is sky-high. They really need to be made to be more truthful; some of them are really UNhealthy and most folk are so used to salt on their palates, they don't even know. Rog has been making a delicious homemade tomato sauce for goulash and spaghetti, no salt added and of course we do soups that way, too. But, even the shrimp we get and the frozen, skinless, boneless chicken fillets still have salt in them! Ah, well...

As a former cook/waitress, it really REALLY annoys me when people sprinkle salt willy nilly on their food before they've even tasted it. I often used to think I should just give them a plate full of salt and see if they put salt on that. Now I appreciate that people have different tastes and that what I might find salty, someone else would find bland, but they could at least TRY the damn stuff before smothering it in sodium!

And don't get me started on the giant penis replacement distributing black pepper that you get in Italian joints....

Fought the crowds at 3 different markets yesterday gathering groceries and supplies for our party tomorrow...that has to count for something...and I did it on 2 hours sleep too!

I don't know what's up with this but unless I have some help from AdvilPM lately. Nothing in particular is on my mind so I don't know what's keeping me up. I hate taking sleeping meds....I always end up doing stuff that I don't remember (writing emails, posting, talking on the phone, etc). For the longest time I wouldn't take any at all because my husband tells me I get up, leave the bedroom and come right back in...not a big deal but we had a loft with no railing...dangerous to be sleep walking out there.

Anyway...wonder if being awake all this time adds up the activity points? LOL

Michelle

Planned a healthy 4th of July for the picnic I am hosting! I don't think the junk will be missed one little bit!

Michelle, awake after 3 hours of sleep. ARG.

Walked around town today pushing the buggy probably about a mile. We took the kids swimming this morning too...more fun and splashing for them than exercise for us but fun none the less!

A hike hauling kayaks through a cornfield and then an 8 mile kayak trip!! My husband went along today and we had a GREAT time! The temperature is just right, the water levels are good....not too high which was a concern given all the rain we have had lately. There were a few riffles and a couple of WHOSH spots (rapids...sorta). YAY!!! A fun day of activity!!! VERY FUN!!!
