and go here
Things to do & see while on the Isles of Shoals
These are worth a trip in themselves

Meanwhile if you'll be cruisong off the mainland yoou may want to cruise Stellwagen Banks or Jeffrey's Ledge

Make sure you visit New Harbor, Pemaquid, and Monhegan Island. That would be the Muscongus Bay part of things.

Damariscotta. That is a good one.

And the trip up to Wiscasset might be good. Not to go to the town. That is pure tourist trap. But just before you get there you go past an old fort that has been restored.

If you get far enough down east try for Bucksport. Once more the town isn't much but you go past Fort Knox.

IF this happens it will be around the end of August as a paying passenger on a cruise ship. And I'll still be hors de combat from shoulder surgery.

Sorcha, I was in Wyoming last weekend -- Grand Tetons National Park, Jackson Hole...where were you? But we're planning getaways and Wyoming ain't all that far away -- couple hours, max. You might be surprised where we'll turn up in the not-too-distant future.

Sounds like a fun trip. Damariscotta is very nice. I'm fond of Rockport, and many visitors seem to like Camden, though it's too crowded for my liking. I hope you do manage to cruise Downeast in August, Rapaire. We'll make you welcome.

The proposed cruise looks good to me. When the ship stops at Bath, it generally ties up at the Maine Maritime Museum. If you alert us to when you're due there, Judy and I will pick you up and drag you to some nearby wharf where you may be forced to consume large red insects, or maybe by that time you'll be sick of sea food and would prefer beef and potatoes!

If it happens, we'll be on this ship, probably in one of the "pink" (or cheap) cabins (you get a good price because you have to spend part of the day rowing and you don't get lifeboat space but you DO get a piece of 2x4 to cling to).

This is a nice cruise line -- the meals are created by chefs who graduate from Johnson & Wales or CIA, the staff and crew are friendly and competent, and you byob (except for the Captain's Receptions). Not many people on the boat, no skeet shooting off the stern, no gambling, no organized grabass -- if you want to sleep the whole voyage you're free to do so.

No, no -- WYOMING is only a couple hours away. You can get on the Interstate down around Evanston and cross the whole state in a day, even if the cops are looking for you, as Sorcha knows.

You do have to be aware that pirates still frequent the lower reaches of the Kennebec River, darting out from the tidal marshes to snatch up a rich prize or two, especially in the early morning fog or twilight. However, they respond well to offers of dark chocolate truffles.

Rapaire, it's likely that Roll & Go will actually be performing at the Maine Maritime Museum the Sunday evening that your cruise boat ties up there. You'll have your choice of running ashore and stuffing yourself with junk food or listening to us make music and joining us later at a favorite watering hole. Maybe we should offer you a kick-back for every other passenger you convince to attend our concert.
