Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Gurney Date: 15 Aug 09 - 09:31 PM Peace, I looked carefully, but I could see only one (singular) car. Are the models twins? Different thighs, though. I noticed that. |

Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Gurney Date: 16 Aug 09 - 03:51 AM Well, now, it comes as no great surprise that Joe Offer prefers coarse threads, nor that Janie thinks that a lot of threads are pretty dense. ;<) However, to the original post: Many of the regular posters below the line here are not aficionados of bitchy topics. They prefer, from my observation, to go straight into personal abuse, almost invariably abuse aimed at people who they know can hold their own in that respect. If respect is the right word, here. However, I do note that some people don't really like this, and would like more respect shown. To them, I would like to say this: It's a bloke thing. Mates DO insult each other! Don't YOU worry about it, Joe knows what he's doing, and IMO this site works better than any other I've visited, i.e., to my taste! |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: SharonA Date: 16 Aug 09 - 05:02 PM Ol' Lemonade Lady claims that she doesn't "bother much with this site anymore", yet when I look at the dates of her 200 most recent posts, versus my 200 most recent, she has chatted here more often than I have! (...and far more often in the 400 most recent posts!) Not that I'm anywhere near the Inner Circle 'round here, but I consider myself to be at least a "semi-regular" Mudcatter. Been here since 2001 and I have no intentions of leaving in a huff or even out of a huff. Never saw the point in starting a thread to make a big deal out of telling folks that I'm taking a break from posting to cool off or to pursue other interests; I just take the break and come back whenever. So I have to agree with Lemonade Lady Sal that it's "sad" that she feels it necessary to draw attention to herself and her posting frequency and her urge to rein in OTHER people who just wanna blow off steam and relieve some stress by having a good bitch once in a while... when she obviously feels it's just fine for her to do it! :-) Perhaps Sal needs to lay off the lemonade for a bit, or at least add a spoonful or two of sugar to counterbalance the sour taste that seems to be in her mouth right now. |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: heric Date: 16 Aug 09 - 05:21 PM There's a guy at my office who is always groaning and grunting while he stretches (I guess he's stretching.) It wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't brought a porn virus in on the system. Beady little eyes. You can serve up a pleasantry and he will stare at you until you speak again. He burps, too. No small talk except to ask you about your clients and their business. Kisses ass like a hoover sucks up dust. Sometimes he just ejaculates foul words out of nowhere when all else is quiet. |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Severn Date: 17 Aug 09 - 12:03 AM To tie all this together, wasn't there a song out a number of years ago called "Bitchin' Camaro"? Will there be a "Son Of...." spin-off thread? Will all those who want to all the "bitches" killed off have to move over to the Michael Vick dogfighting thread? |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Azizi Date: 17 Aug 09 - 09:18 AM I see the point that a person who complains about complaining may be guilty of the very act she or he is calling attention to. However, whether I agree or disagree that there are "too many" of "bitching" threads, I'm disappointed that for the most part that subject has been changed and few posters to this thread haven't explored the reasons why people "bitch" (complain) on Mudcat threads. I think such meta (analytical) discussions can be interesting and beneficial-if those discussions themselves don't descend into bitching. I was therefore interested to read your comments, SharonA, about why some people start "bitching threads" and/or post comments that "bitch" at another person or persons. You wrote that [people] "just wanna blow off steam and relieve some stress by having a good bitch once in a while..." I suppose the phrase "having a good bitch" is ripe with witty possibilites and my compliments to the wits among us (you know who you are). But suppose those words were changed to "having a good rant"? For what it's worth, it seems to me that there could be some merit in posting a complaint or complaints-since no group or blog or person is perfect, and there's always room for improvement. It also seems to me that people need to have a good rant every now and then as a way of getting it out of their system, or "blow[ing] off steam". yet I believe that there is such a thing as too much complaining (but what is "too much?"). And I think that there is a lot of merit in refusing to give in to provocation when someone makes the complaint personal. But maybe I'm seeing the virtue of "playing pass" (ignoring) insults or criticism (constructive or otherwise) and not reacting or responding to provocation or someone else's rant because I'm usually too self-contained to bitch and rant... Maybe it would be good to sometimes let it rip-and diss individuals and complain until my heart's content-and do it online one a public forum so potentially everybody and anybody could bare witness to my letting off steam. But even when I post something even moderately testy-as I did the other day in an above the line thread, I feel like I failed my test of maintaining my equilibrium and not letting what other people say get me riled up. I struggled with this post as I didn't/don't want to be confrontational-though I realize that being confrontational has some merits sometime. I just felt the need to say what I said. Best wishes, Azizi |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Azizi Date: 17 Aug 09 - 09:21 AM Here's one correction to my last post to this thread (The other typos/mistakes will have to fend for themselves: "I'm disappointed that for the most part that subject has been changed and few posters to this thread have explored the reasons why people "bitch" (complain) on Mudcat threads". |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Little Hawk Date: 17 Aug 09 - 01:46 PM Azizi - I've been talking for years here about why people complain, bitch, rant, etc...why they will not listen objectively to an opinion that differs from their own...why they get unreasonable and hostile...why they go on personal vendettas, etc... And, boy, does it ever annoy some of those people when I do. ;-D But it doesn't seem to have encouraged very many of them to engage in a little calm self-analysis or constructive self-criticism. Nope. They are too busy attacking someone or something else. The unexamined (unconscious or reactive) life continues to be the favorite mode of existence for most people, I guess, even though Aristotle (I think it was him...) said that such a life is not worth living. |
Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: SharonA Date: 18 Aug 09 - 11:06 AM Azizi: Well put. Yes indeed, by "having a good bitch" I meant "having a good rant." Hadn't even thought about the double-entendre possibilities when I wrote that. Sorry!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: There are a lot of threads on here From: Rowan Date: 18 Aug 09 - 06:38 PM Having a good rant is a bit tricky when you have to play the music for it at the same time. I wish I had my High Level Ranters record in the office so I could do it to theirs Cheers, Rowan |
