Subject: Origins: Hard Workin' Dog (from 1980s Sesame St. From: babypix Date: 23 Nov 09 - 11:48 PM Gentle Colleagues: Information, please! Wondering about the composer and singer of the song used on Sesame Street, called, "Hard Workin' Dog". It's a doggone good'un, and still holds up right well after all these years. The lyrics are: I'm a dog I'm a workin' dog I'm a hard workin' dog Hard workin' dog Now I never said I was a hog And you can see I'm not a frog I'm tryin' to tell ya, I'm a dog I'm a cow dog I'm a dog I'm a workin' dog I'm a hard workin' dog Hard workin' dog Now some dogs can fetch a stick Other dogs will shake your hand I even heard of a dog that can roll over All I know how to do Is take a hundred cows and teach 'em some manners I'm a dog I'm a workin' dog I'm a hard workin' dog Hard workin' dog Now I'm not the top dog I'm not much of a bird dog I'm not the best watch dog But I'm an awful good cow dog I'm a dog I'm a workin' dog I'm a hard workin' dog Workin' like a dog-gone dog It's a dog's life, and I love it!
