Obviously gay or transgendered folk here would have a hard time getting jobs where they serve the public (Alberta), regardless of ownership. Muslim women with their head scarves are acceptable, all shades and colors are acceptable, but not gays.

The Ronald McDonald Houses are a respected charity in Canada, furnishing rooms near to hospitals and clinics to parents with seriously ill children. McDonald restaurants pay the operating costs, so that donations go to direct help for children and their families.
Their program, now in many countries, is well worth your support.

MacDonald's is an amazing charitable foundation providing housing and medical help for children and their families. They can't be held responsible for what some moron franchisee says but they have to respond.

Many years ago I worked for the Girl Scouts. One scout leader who was an incredible idiot was threatening to sue the organization because a little girl from her troop saw her in a local supermarket and said "Didn't we have fun camping. You were laughing like you were drunk."
Her sterling reputation had been tarnished. This same numbnuts appeared in a TV interview pushing belly dancing classes. She (middle-aged and showing it) was jiggling around on TV for all to see but a little girl's silly comment was fodder for a lawsuit. She actually got the local church involved - another bunch of numbnuts.

Ebbie--Ray Kroc was no Mac Donald. He was a salesman for milk-shake making equipment. One of his customers was the MacDonald's Bros. hamburger stand in San Bernardino, CA. 'Twas a very popular place. Mr. Kroc talked them into franchising their name and methods. Eventually he took over the company and grew it to what we see today.

The Krocs, especially Joan, Mrs. K., were very charitable. Mr. Kroc predeceased his wife. In a addition to RMH, she gifted, before her death, several Catholic charities as well as some others to the tune of millions of dollars.

All in all, I believe these were folks with a social conscience, and a pretty good hamburger. The trick is to get a fresh made sandwich, and eschew the secret sauce for mustard.
