Subject: RE: BS: Top 3 Canadians of all Time From: Little Hawk Date: 26 Feb 10 - 09:55 AM Shatner's autobiography "Get A Life" is actually a very entertaining, amusing book. I recommend it to anyone. Seriously. Canadians are known for being good at laughing at themselves and their own foibles, and Shatner is no exception. Don Cherry has also written an autobiography. It's called "Grapes" (a reference to sour grapes?) I can't recommend it....I blush to say that I have never read it! It's like Shane's bible, eh? |
Subject: RE: BS: Top 3 Canadians of all Time From: GUEST,Neil D Date: 26 Feb 10 - 09:49 AM Someone mentioned Tecumseh earlier and he actually was ranked 37th on a list of great Canadians. While he died on Canadian soil defending Canada from U.S. aggression, he was born in what became Ohio and lived his entire life there and in present-day Indiana. Only the fortunes of war drove him into Canada at the very end of his life. Nevertheless, he was a great man, a brave warrior and a visionary leader. |

He was educated in Scotland and he moved to Vancouver Island when he was 21. Sawzaw: we're pretty good about laughing at ourselves. Most of us thought "Canadian Bacon" was a hoot. As for Michael J Fox, that man has serious stones. And 'Sgt Preston of the Yukon' entertained many of us as kids. |
Subject: RE: BS: Top 3 Canadians of all Time From: JennieG Date: 26 Feb 10 - 01:41 AM Today I borrowed William Shatner's autobiography from my local library.....couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it there with the new books......so I can find out what makes him the greatest (in the opinion of some people) Canadian ever of all time in the universe. Cheers JennieG |

The first three were chosen on MSNBC and I thought it was humerous. I only know Canadians from an American viewpoint like John Candy and Alex Trebec. I like Canada. On a whole it is cleaner and neater than the US except for some of the Indian Reservations. The people are friendly except in Quebec. I've been over a good part of it like the Edmonton Mall, Banf, Atlin, Nova Scotia, Prince Rupert even the Yukon where I visited Robert Service's cabin. Was he Scottish or English. |
