How far is the campsite from the pub please? Is it far? Or easy to walk to late at night.

As far as I was aware alcoholic drinks consumed in the pub grounds and Marquee area are covered by the Pub's ON licence and should be purchased at the Bar. Booze purchased at an OFF licenced outlet is for drinking in unlicenced areas. I think that it is good prctice and respectful to the Pub landlord that we only drink our own booze in the camping area.

[..] I find little ankle high welly-slippers better and drier on the feet than flip-flops.

OK - how about these? Festival Wellies

Maybe a tad overkill, but I love that they make 'tough biker' wellies!

Otherwise, I think I'll be on the lookout for some of those rubber gardening 'clogs' for camping this summer. That's a good idea.

Sowry! We've been into ciders lately - especially after visiting the Cider Museum in Hereford which is thoroughly engaging. Like some mysterious underground alchemists lab.

Mr. Barden, thanks but no thanks! I think those double-vision ciders sound a tad too strong for me.. (if I need any supplies I'll pick 'em up with Tam & TSO in Edenbridge or someplace nearby.) Mind you I did have some apple brandy while camping, you put a capfull in a glass of cider and get 'royal cider' (that's what I read at the museum anyhoo).

Those Kentish Anteaters are nothing but trouble! Always got their noswes in the trough! The way to fix them is simple. We round up every ant we can find and feed them to the monkeys. (We could let the anteaters eat the red ants) Would that be seen as vote rigging?

The Kenny Cramps of wot John speaks is very excellent, but it has never been the same since old Kenny Cramp himself retired due to cider psychosis. Nonetheless it is very strongly recommended but it is also very dangerous!

But Crow Sister - then there's Double vision, and Treble Vision out of Boughton Monchelsea. We Lads of Kent know good cider when it's around. The Biddenden is well worth supping I must say, but for pure apple taste and that certain je ne sais quois then Double Vision is yer chappie. Would you like some to be acquired?

Anyone tried this? Any good? It sounds scarily strong.

Oh, and as for disposables BBQ's, Noooo! Proper BBQ's are the only way to go for camping - our diddy camping Barby kept us warm all evening in chilly Herefordshire. Jeeze was it cold too, I'm amazed the apple blossom even made a show this year! Brrr.. For Veggies, veggie Barbies can be fabulous eating too. I like marinated asparagus, courgettes (sliced longways), peppers, portobello mushrooms (work as burgers in soft buttered buns), halloumi (greek cheese that holds it's shape when grilled), tofu (great with oriental flavourings), quorn sausages, pitta breads, slices of butternut squash... Not tried aubergine yet.

What's the full address & postcode of the location of the fest? With regards shops, me & Mr. have belatedly discovered the benefits of going to a local farm shop for camping food needs. Beats the pants out of tins of soup: Eggs & bacon brekkie, bread, cheese & pickles lunch, salad veg & local meat on BBQ dinner - it can be a really rather good way to go about eating when camping, if you know what you need and want to eat fresh local produce.

I can lend you windy. You can use wood for wheel chocks. Bog chemicals you do need, put the bottles in teh gas compartment (I am bringing you spare gaz and the oven cupboard door). I suggest using bottles. YOu can get away with ordinary bogrol. YOu can get away with a bit of rope instead of storm straps for a small awnig and I have some on board.

Registered virginity? Not touching that one with a barge pole.

You need to pay for tickets Fisheye - £25.00 per adult includes camping. Address up near top of thread.

I sent a cheque and SAE, with note stating need camping for caravan on Monday.

Christ this caravan is starting to tick up the costs. Currently bidding on windbreak and wheels chocks. Now let's talk toilet chemicals and special bog roll. Can I use the AquaKem green pearls (in sachets) or does it have to be bottle of liquid. Hate the idea of bottles sloshing around in van when we drive. Does the toilet need aught else?

CS - so long as the water heater stays alight, the little van has a pretty decent shower. It also has a bog for night time dashing, depending on local habits as to usage (some 'vanners use on-board for smaller events, and the site loos for bigger jobs) but for short exits I find little ankle high welly-slippers better and drier on the feet than flip-flops (or those funny coloured plastic sandals called "crocs").

Flip flops: indoors=slippers + outdoors are waterproof for swift dashes to loo at night.
Wet wipes/baby wipes: for pretty much everything that gets mucky, including self if not inclined to splash wash in cold bucket!

Was that Joan Baez, or Julie Felix?

Take matches in case of lighter problems, bogrol, baby lotion, extra covers in case night gets chilly. Screwdrivers spanners and pliers for emergencies. Towrope and jack ditto. Chocks for wheels. Set of spare 12V bulbs (for car and caravan running and indicator lights). Electrical meter. Two torches. Resolve, bandaids, insect repellent and anthistan - and TCP. Painkillers. Prescription medicines. Hat or cap in case sunny, and shades (man). Sun cream and aftersun.

More bottles of beer and wine.

Tankards.

Picnic rug for sitting on ground.

Don't forget the tuner and capos - guitars can be borrowed!

Charger for mobile phone.

Disposable BBQ if so inclined.

Maps or satnav - A previous navigator of mine could put a nuclear sub anywhere in any ocean of the world but got me and van going round in circles on the backroads on the way to Piggy!

As much food as you can fit in the caravan. We always have loads of tins. We are lucky enough to have a fridge as well, though it's only small. Spare gas cylinder, loads of matches, drink for when you're not in the pub / marquee. some sturdy boots, or wellies, some warm clothes, for the evening, at least one umbrella (weather insurance.) Treat this as Knockholt with better toilets, and you'll be fine. There's the added luxury of food laid on for you at the pub, but it's not cheap, and the shops are all in Edenbridge.

Cooking stuff, cleaning stuff, eating stuff, sleeping stuff, tools.

Any suggestions of what we may need to bring on our first caravanning festival would be much appreciated. PM me a list if you have one already composed somewhere.

Pierre, I have done a bit of research and it seems that the nearest supermarket is going to be Tunbridge Wells or Tonbridge. There is one bus from Edenbridge to Markbeech at 14.32 on the Thursday. I think I will do some shopping in Tonbridge and try to get to Edenbridge in time for the bus.

How far is Edenbridge from the Campsite?
I also I noticed last year there are bus stops outside the pub one near the church and another on the pub side of the road do the buses from these stops go to Edenbridge.

I plan to cook all my food this year on stoves and in steam tins so I will have to get to a supermarket to bring in food. if the buses do not go to Edenbridge where do they go to and is there a supermarket on the route.
Regards Pierre.

"Fallen Livestock "? Do leopards come under this heading?

Hmm, I'm guessing not, just had a quick browse through the Hobbs Parker livestock auction catalogue and leopards don't seem to feature very prominantly, well not at all actually.

Mind you it's an interesting concept - leopard farming, bit difficult to herd though I'd imagine and likely to seriously shorten the working life of your average sheepdog!
