Dan from Wasps has moved dahn west. Jonni's pregnant. Andy, Liz and Leijsha are playing as Taliesin - did an excellent set at Nellie's the other week. Last I heard, they had recruited Andy Millen on bass and Holly on melodeon. Really looking forward to hearing them at Markbeech.

And you really ain't heard nothing until you hear Andy the Dangerous Pig Band.

Blimey. Cheers for the description of 'a clout', John from Elsie's Band, and Barden of England.
I didn't realise that this festival has really taken off in the last few years.
'Wasps in the Woodshed are no more' What happened, have they disbanded ? :-(    I know Leijsha and her playing anyway..

I think that this weekend clashes with the Tinkers Park Steam Rally, :-/ , has anyone else sampled The New Inn, Hadlow Down ?

Wevva forecast improved - now showing Fri and Sat dry and 19 degrees, Sun warm and wet with 2mm of rain (ie not a lot really) and 21 degrees - just enough to make the bog driving trophy at the field exit interesting.

I think we've cleared up the pricing confusion, but just in case...

A weekend ticket costs £25 and includes all the concerts and camping. All monies from tickets go to pay the artists fees, so we can do it all again next year. As most people have commented its ridiculously good value.

If you don't have a weekend ticket (ie just a day ticket) and want to camp, it's £5 per pitch per night.

If you don't have a ticket at all, there's not much I can do about it, since we hold it in a public house - but who d'you think pays for it all???? 't'ain't done by magic.

FOOD AND DRINK
The pub usually have Biddenden cider on as well as lots of beer. Can I confirm that only food and drink purchased from the Kentish Horse should be consumed in the marquee, garden or bar - in other words, keep your own on the campsite. Gina and Jeremy at TKH have been hugely supportive of the Ale. Yes, they do a lot of business over the weekend, but you all know (or should) how valuable good landlords/landladies are to live music. TKH hosts a folk session once a month, and has occasional live bands. It's not easy running a rural pub - I call on all good men, women and Leopards to do their duty at the bar....

PRE-FESTIVAL EVENTS (all villages around Edenbridge):
Four Elms pub in Four Elms village are holding an acoustic/folk fest the previous Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. A more contemporary feel than Pigfest. Open mic slots Monday afternoon. Ticket entry.
Tuesday 1st June - extra session at Elsie's, QUeens Arms Cowden Pound. Bits of Pigs (Grant and Sue) will be supporting this session (other bits will be supporting the Punch and Judy in Tonbridge)
Weds 2nd June - Ashdown Morris Men are at the Kentish Horse
Thurs 3rd June - Travelling Folk are at the Kentish Horse
..and Pigfest starts Friday 4th.

T_SHIRTS
I've seen Ben's design for this year's Folk Ale Ts. Brilliant. (Thought, perhaps we should do designer wellies...?)

ANything else?

Oh, weather! Yes, of course it'll be fine. If all this talk of wellies hasn't scared off the rain, the sacrificial Sunday at the Sweeps MUST have done. (Mustn't it?)

Now, as long as Fiat get around to putting a new engine in our (3-year-old!) car in time for towing the caravan up to Markbeech, we're all set...

Sue

SOrry folks, not been on Mudcat for a bit - you've all overtaken me!!

Re. open mic, I'm afraid it's closed to new entries - we have the most fantastic line up of "volunteers" who could be guest artists in their own right. Folk like Andy Smythe, Sally Ironmonger, Ty & Ayesha, Taliesin...the list goes on. The only way I can get more open mic slots in is to add 24 hours to the festival. And I have to go back to work on Monday....

Wasps in the Woodshed are no more, BUT Leijsha the harpist will be there with "son of Wasps" ("grub of Wasps?") Taliesin.

Back to the thread to see if there are any more queries Richard and John and other stalwart Piggies have not picked up! Thanks guys.

Sue

I'll be there from Friday afternoon, with the van and Dave K. Alan and I have got an open mike spot on Saturday afternoon
On footwear I find that crocs are the best for camping. If it's muddy you just stick you feet, (shoes as well) under the tap!!

Got to admit Sue that I was somewhat mystified by the £25 being expensive for basic camping in a field. It includes Jez Lowe, Bully Wee and Moveable Feast, and some really stunning local talent (Atlantic Currants, Border Crossing, Ty & Ayesha and of course the fabulous Pigs Ear to name but a few), plus excellent loos, booze and how do you doo's. That is brilliant value in my mind.

£25.00 too dear!!!???????? Rubbish!!!!! Where else could you get Jez Lowe, The Bully Wees, a host of infamous others, and John Barden for the money?

If you want to avoid us, we're in the marquee 2.15 Saturday. (So Far)

VT what you depressed about there are Marquees and a session tent during the day and you are in a Caravan. we can all meet up and play and sing at the end of the day its the evening pub sessions that appeal to me there seems to be little time for slot during the day time
unless ye pre book a slot but the slots I saw last year were very good but some what ruched once on. Clearly I am not talking about booked guests
Kind regards Pierre.

Please let's not devolve into discussion of sheep. Save that for the Knocker's threads.
