Subject: Chord Req: Past Carin' From: Muttley Date: 15 May 10 - 08:49 PM Hi Folks I've recently heard the Bushwackers version of Henry Lawson's "Past Carin'" and it has just nailed me. I've always loved the poem itself but the gloomy chording and way of playing they have produced has really set it apart as a song of desperation (as it was intended when written as a poem) - they really bullseyed Lawson's intent, I feel. However, all feelings and admiration aside: Can ANYbody help me with the chording please: usual style - bracketed chord preceding the word at the change-point. ie [c] blah blah blah [g] blah blah etc |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Past Carin' - Bushwackers version From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 17 May 10 - 07:58 AM The Bushwhackers use the Steve Ashley melody, not the Phyl Lobl. If you can get the Chris Kempster book, The Songs of Henry Lawson, it has notes and chords. |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Past Carin' - Bushwackers version From: Muttley Date: 31 May 10 - 06:42 AM Yeah, thanks Joe - but the lyrics are pretty easy to come by given they're from a well-known poem; but for someone with an ABI that can't pick chords from music - it was the latter I needed. Gerry - I'll have to look for the songbook you mentioned. Ta |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Past Carin' - Bushwackers version From: Bob Bolton Date: 31 May 10 - 11:54 PM G'day Muttley, I'll be going through a stack of standard texts for Australian song ... putting up a "Suggested Songs" list for this Friday Night's song-based night at the Bush Music Club. I'll check to see if the Bushwackers' Song Book(s) have there chord structure ... and I'll encode it as you prefer ... if it is there. I tend to use Phyl lobl's version, myself, and that's gloomy enough for me! Regards, Bob Bolton |
