I just delivered a hamburger, spud, turnip and carrot hash fried fit for a future king and his bride to Mum and she said she was watching the royal visit on TV.

I said, "Oh my, I gotta run right back home and turn the TV on!"

She laughed and said, "I am going to enjoy my hash. I'll bet they aren't going to dine as well as me tonight."

Not much of a story but it warmed my heart.

Yes, Charmion, they like to sleep in eh wha. Last time, Beth and Phil didn't emerge until after 8AM! I had cooked up a large brekky and thought the smell, especially the bacon and coffee (I ACTUALLY bought coffee after they called) would rouse them but I guess the last few Buds, even though one of the footmen reminded them that I rise early, were too much. Anyway, IF they bother to call ahead I have an answering machine so I'll definitely be screening my calls and sorting out the riff-raff. And, like I said, if they just show up... cellar! And NO coffee.

They're expected to drop in for the Musical Ride and the fireworks on Dominion Day, and Ottawa is already bracing for the onslaught. Disliking crowds as I do, that would be a really great day to stay home and maybe put up a couple of batches of strawberry-and-rhubarb jam.

However, if they show up in Old Saint Patrick Street, we could of course pop a couple more bratwurst on the barbecue, or even another steak. But they'll have to stay at the EconoLodge on Rideau Street -- Edmund has signed up for the Perth Kilt Run the next day, so we will be out of the house early.
