Never heard it, but it has more than a few similarities to the song we sang as kids--thought it was real clever and a hoot back then--named Lulu.

Yes the song did have bleeps for bad words.I thought they sangnever heard of a Newport truck. New Ford truck makes better sense. I'm going to have to have my friend dig through her boxes and find the record.

Wow, I have been looking for these lyrics for quite some time now. My Dad had this song on a party album a long with other naughty songs. He always wanted another record but I could never find it for him... he has long since passed away but I still look now and again for some of his favorites. If any one can give me a name of who did this song or if they have a "party album" that it was on, I would love any info ya have.

My father used to sing this around the campfire when my brother and I were little. He tought me how to play guitar, but never the chords to this song, so if anybody does find the artist, or maybe if anyone play guitar themselves, could let me know what chords to play something like this. I have it on a 78 RPM single, titled The Beep Beep Song. It's a plain blue label with no label name, no writers' credit and no artist name. Just the song title, and nothing else. The flip side is Excuse Me, Please, a play on the familiar "I knew an old cowboy from Kent...." saga. I bought it in a collectors shop in the early 1970s. The shop owner speculated that it was from the late 1930s, but he wasn't sure, either. I don't think it dates back that far, though. To this day, I still don't know who the artist is. If that information ever surfaces, I for one would be most grateful!

The song starts out as "Now I'm in the Navy, A sailor boy I sit......" was a song titled the "Beep Beep Song" not to be confused with a few other songs with the same title.

The 45rpm record my dad had was from the 50's or early 60's recorded on "Outhouse Records" by "Danny and The Bull Shippers". I still perform this song live at parties I play.

If it helps these songs are generally referred to as 'teasing' songs.
However, the asterisks and bleeps intrigue me. All of the British teasing songs I know do not have a break for a bleep or asterisks, the substitute word that starts off the next line simply takes the place of the rude word. a la;
