Subject: A baby fell out of the window From: GUEST,kat logan Date: 25 Apr 00 - 03:38 PM Does anyone know the words to this old shaving cream advertising song? My Dad used to sing it to me... he was always coming up with some wacky song that I loved! I know that it starts out:
" A baby fell out of the window, Or something like that? Can anyone help? And Where is it from? Also, my son and I play a game to make up verses to this of our own. It really cracks us up. (I have a very youthful sense of humor!) Thanks for the help........kat |

I have a sad story to tell you
There once was a very old lady, she died in a terrible FIT, and there were lots of other verses... but you had to SHOUT the word that rhymes with the word that starts with SH but you never say. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: A baby fell out of the window From: GUEST,Kcar1129@aol.com Date: 08 Aug 01 - 08:34 PM My family still sings the song SHAVING CREAM. When we all get together and have a few too many, we start singing old songs. I dont know all the words off hand, but I did, a few months ago, download that song off of Napster. I think it was by a R. Clemente. Just type in Shaving Cream in the title bar. Try that.

Subject: Lyr Add: SHAVING CREAM (Benny Bell) From: GUEST,Denise:^) Date: 08 Aug 01 - 08:55 PM Here they are: SHAVING CREAM Benny Bell
I have a sad story to tell you,
Shaving cream, be nice and clean,
I think I'll break off with my girlfriend,
Shaving cream, be nice and clean,
Our baby fell out of the window,
Shaving cream, be nice and clean,
An old lady died in a bathtub,
Shaving cream, be nice and clean,
When I was in France with the army,
Shaving cream, be nice and clean,
And now, folks, my story is ended:
Shaving cream, be nice and clean, We always thought it was really funny, too, and as close as we dared to get to saying a real 'swear word!' Denise:^) |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: A baby fell out of the window From: GUEST,Billy Boy Date: 11 Aug 01 - 09:54 PM Looks like it's always been a song. A Google search came up with: "Shaving Cream" - Benny Bell with Paul Wynn transcriber unknown "There are more verses to this than you can imagine. In fact, there are an infinite number. People continue to make them up all the time. First are the words to the original recording. It was written by Ben Samberg (a/k/a Benny Bell) and sung by Phil Winston (a/k/a Paul Wynn). It originally came out in 1946, but finally hit the Billboard charts in 1975! This original recording is available on many 45's, as well as the original Paul Wynn album of 78's called _Cocktail Party Songs_ (wherein it's the B-side to "Automobile Song"), the LP/CD _Dr. Demento Presents the Greatest Novelty Records of All Time, Vol. 1 - The 1940's (and before!)_, Rhino 820, 1985, and the CD/CS _Dr. Demento's 25th Anniversary Collection_, Rhino 72124, 1995." There are several different sites which have lyrics, the ones Denise put in and more, if you go to Google and search for "shaving cream lyrics." |
