Anyone in the Portland area interested in coffee tomorrow about 3-4 in the vicinity of the Galleria? I'll be in town but will have to leave around 4:30 or so..

Portland where? There are at least three.....

If its Dorset, give my love to the Chesil bank, I miss it terribly. If it isn't, you won't know what the heck I'm on about!

I think Mary's in Portland Oregon, US, and sorry, Mary, I'm way too busy with costumes to do it today. If you come to the next pubsing, tho, I should there.
Blessings,
Barbara

Speaking from Portland Dorset, I'll give your love to Chesil Bank Liz - I can see it from my livingroom window, and be standing on it in 10 minutes. There are some benefits to living this far from a dual carriageway - the pebbles lull us to sleep each night.

WWAAAAaahhh!! (breaks down and sobs like a baby)!!

I spent my childhood in Abbotsbury mostly, can you see St Catherine's Chapel from where you are??

Have friends in Wyke who have what has got to be one of the best views of the island, with a grand view of the prison ship, although you have to know which one it is.... Watched the eclipse from there in Aug, pity about the cloud wasn't it, but we still got a really good look at the actual 'moment'.

Perhaps this explains why I woke at 3.30am with 'Linden Lea' and 'Poor little lambs who have lost their way' going off in my head....

If you go into the Ilchester Arms, in Abbotsbury, there's a picture of my grandfather in the back bar, and my aunt works in the kitchen there. Family have been there since 1814, the village, not the pub. Going to have a good sob over breakfast now..... waaaaahhh!!

Can't see St Catherine's Chapel unforunately, though its a lovely spot. We spend a lot of our evenings, especially in summer, at our favourite local, the Cove pub on the beach at the end of Chesil bank. We live Underhill, so its just a short stagger home after we've watched the sun go down. Incidentally, the eclipse viewed out at the Bill was a very spooky experience!

Never been to the Cove, spent my wild and reckless youth in either the Three Compasses, Charminster (stagger round the corner and home....), The New Inn, Cerne Abbas, used to work there, the Royal Oak, Dorchester - until they got rid of the barman whose nickname was 'Superbum'.... and then the White Hart,Dorchester, where there was an opera singing landlord and the best pint of Tanglefoot ever kept.... WAAAAaaaaahhhhh!! another bout of BDASLAB!!

Weymouth pubs that I frequented were few, although we did use the Terminus a lot, even after it became the Giant Pot. I can't say I remember drinking much on Portland, although we did have a wake in one of the pubs in Fortuneswell, can't remember who died, let alone how I got home.....!

Have a pint of something with a badger on it for me!!
