It is a deep shame we can't hear them but I'm happier to have a web page saying "Sorry, this episode is not currently available"
than spending hours on a wild googlechase.

I should have added
"Put a note in your diary to check 12.Nov.2017"

Yeah - but the episodes themselves are not actually available on iPlayer - so a bit pointless the Beeb listing the eps.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09dwbmq

For the latest programme in the Radio Ballad series, Barry Coope joins The Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir to sing his arrangement of ?Trench Raid?, a new song written by Sean Cooney of The Young ?Uns.

Formed in 1924 by miners working in the Yorkshire village of Thurnscoe, Barry says the choir were ?great to work with.?

The Radio Ballad of the Great War 1917 also includes a first chance to hear Jim Boyes & Maarten Decombel as the new duo perform ?Passchendaele?, a song by Jim which was specially commissioned for the programme.

Saturday 7 November 2015 9pm BBC Radio 2

The Ballad of the Great War 2015

The Ballad of the Great War - 1915, featuring stories told by men and women who took part in the conflict both at home and abroad. The stories are accompanied by original music written especially for the programme and inspired by the stories told.

In this programme we hear about the Zeppelin air raids when, for the first time in modern warfare, towns and cities of mainland Britain were bombed, the disastrous Gallipoli campaign and we also hear the stories of two women who survived the attack on the ill fated liner Lusitania, sunk by a U-boat off Ireland in May 1915 with the loss of over 1000 passengers and crew.

The songs for this programme are performed by John Tams, Martin Carthy, Chris While, Julie Matthews, Jez Lowe, Barbara Dickson and Heidi Talbot. This programme, which has been a year in the making, was produced by Ian Callahan and John Leonard.

Barbara Dickson 1 November at 02:54;
I'll be singing Julie Matthews' lovely song, 'Beautiful Day,' on 'The Ballad of the Great War' on Radio 2 next Saturday, 9pm. Bx

I say attempted - while Steve Gardham says absolutely murdered!

I'm afraid Joss Stone's version has not been widely appreciated here.

Attempted - but sadly failed to deliver its message.

Eric Bogle seems to agree. He added: "It just sort of starts off promisingly enough and then turns into a singalong chorus type of song. Sentimentalising [war] perhaps, but not glorifying."

Mind you, it was a very odd arrangement of soul, rock and gospel.

Really??? How condescending.

John Tams sang Only Remembered at the Festival of Remembrance, accompanied by Joey and Blackthorn.

It was quite a folky show. Jim Radford sang Shores of Normandy - while Joss Stone attempted No Man's Land.

The band of the Royal Marines included Early One Morning.

Glad to see they are having live musicians with the War Horse segment. The Musicians' Union are campaigning for live musicians to be restored to the stage version in the West End.

BBC TV One and BBC Radio 2 Saturday 8 November at 9.15pm-10.50pm

The Festival commemorates the First World War Centenary with the cast of War Horse, and Joss Stone performs the official Poppy appeal single – 'No Man's Land'.

BBC Radio 2 Folk Show - available for 30 days

This week - 5 November 2014 - songwriter John Tams talks about Radio 2's new series of Radio Ballads, The Ballads of the Great War.

The five programmes in this new BBC Radio 2 series, broadcast over five years, offer a unique opportunity to experience the war at first hand, through the eyes of those who were there.

The first ballad - to be broadcast at 10pm on 11/112014 - covers the outbreak of the war in 1914 and the early battles, with troops taken to the front in London buses and taxis, women handing out white feathers and hopes for a short war soon dashed.
