Subject: Contacting Phil Coulter for print licens From: Joe Offer Date: 01 Apr 15 - 03:14 PM We want to use Phil Coulter's "The Town I Loved So Well" in the upcoming Rise Again Songbook, but we haven't been able to get a print license for it. We thought we were going to be able to to it through Phil's representatives, but that didn't work. We've tried through the "contact" page on his Website, but got no response. So, we need to be able to contact Phil directly. Can anybody get a phone number or e-mail address for me? Best to send it privately instead of posting it here. Thanks. -Joe Offer- joe@mudcat.org |

Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: Jim Carroll Date: 06 Apr 15 - 03:37 AM He used to have a home in Wandsworth, in West London - don't have an exact address, but his house was once pointed out to me - top of East Hill, near to Wandsworth Commom (very close to one of my locals, The Spread Eagle - gawd bless Young's Beer, miss it desperately!!) May not still be there, of course, but if he is, London telephone directory enquiries might get him. Jim Carroll |

Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 07 Apr 15 - 11:16 AM Joe, you said, "We thought we were going to be able to to it through Phil's representatives, but that didn't work." Maybe Phil C doesn't want his song in the book. I just re-read these lyrics, and they are deeply personal. Maybe Coulter wants to keep them close. That's why stars hire representatives, to do unpleasant chores for them, like say no to people asking favors. |

Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: GUEST,Felipa Date: 07 Apr 15 - 03:46 PM Leenia, The Town I Loved So Well is very well known, much recorded, much sung in pubs (I even heard it sung in Japanese translation at a session in Derry, The Town).I expect is in print elsewhere; it is certainly easily available on the internet. It would be very late in the day for the author to try to make the song less available. (btw. I think Coulter's Scorn Not His Simplicity is even more personal) |
Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: Thompson Date: 07 Apr 15 - 03:56 PM pm sent to Joe Offer. |
Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 07 Apr 15 - 04:04 PM Just saw this thread - I know someone who knows him, or used to. I'll try phoning him, though he's usually out in the evenings (it's about 9 pm here). But I'll give him a ring tomorrow morning (my time) and see if he can run down Cool Filter. Phil is by all accounts very nice, and his songs are sung everywhere here. Anyway, I'll try to pass the question on via my friend, and let you know what happens. If there's any personal info, I'll email it. |
Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 07 Apr 15 - 04:06 PM Sorry, I cross-posted with Thompson. Shall I now not bother to phone my friend? |
Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: Thompson Date: 07 Apr 15 - 04:11 PM I think it's ok, Bonnie - the Phil Coulter twitter account replied immediately to say to contact his publisher at moirawfourseas whose address is at eircom and a dot, then net (I've PM'd Joe Offer, but put this up here too in case anyone else wants to license Phil Coulter's work. On the other hand, a more personal contact might be good, since J.O. is in a rush - Joe will say what he'd like. |
Subject: RE: Contacting Phil Coulter for print license From: Joe Offer Date: 07 Apr 15 - 07:03 PM Hi, Bonnie - Let's hold off for a couple days and see what happens. I'll contact you privately if I need you to call. Thank you all. -Joe- |
