Helen darling, what would you like to be enlightened about? Little dreidel? It is a spin top kind of toy with hebrew letters on it. You spin it around to see what letter it falls on and the game goes from there. Usually it is played with pennies, which you collect if it lands on the right hebrew letter. He wanted to expose (?) his little brothers and sister (10, 8 and 5, respectively) to what he considers the quintessential British humour troop of the 20th century. Well, siblings and parents alike totally the enjoyed experience -- 'HELP, HELP, I'M BEING REPRESSED!!' I'm sure my boy-o could sing you under the table with his rendition of the Lumberjack Song -- 'AND I THOUGHT YOU WERE SO BUTCH!' And I HATE the term Gen-X....I was born in 1966 (OH NO! the truth is out!) and I just don't consider myself part of that "group"....Now, the music is one thing, but the pants 10 sizes too big teetering on the very edge of ones hips and back side so the boxer shorts you have on underneath can be seen is definitely NOT my style... Frankly, I think I am more old fashioned than you Mick! I was singing Andrews' sisters songs and doing ballroom dancing while my friends were big into Chicago, Santana, Asia and whatever other groups were popular in the 80's...My biggest thrill after I started work after college was winning tickets to see Perry Como! I remember one particular lunch time in college when they held a "sounds in" which was taken up almost exclusively by the LP verison of &I'm a Man" by Chicago.. lasted about 20 minutes with a brilliant drum solo.. then they went &pop& and lost all cred.. And Santana.. I'd forgotten about them.. the biggest nostrils in the music industry.. what was the name of the album I had.. &Abraxas&???.. did a wicked cover of Pete Green's. "Black Magic Woman".. And there's a story to pull at the heart strings.. i.e. Pete Green, probably one of the finest Blues guitarists that Britain has produced who went loopy and is now a regular bum.. it could happen to all of us. I'm suspecting that the majority of people who currently frequent the mudcat are too young to remember Fleetwood Mac prior to them becoming a "pop" group.. or indeed when Christine McVie.. nee Perfect , sang with Chicken Shack.. the good old days.. I remember seeing both at Cleo's in Derby .. price of admission about 2 quid.. those were the days..
