Hi Mudcatters,

In a search for 21st century protest songs, I dusted off this one from Woody Guthrie. You can hear him singing much of it here, with chorus and Sonny Terry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwcKwGS7OSQ

My own new verses for the age of racist neoliberalism are:

People 'round the world have got a story they can tell,
About this new world order making life a living hell,
(You're bound to lose, you fascists bound to lose...)

Taking people off the voting rolls for having the wrong kind of name,
Won't take people long to see right through that racist game.
   (you're bound to lose...)

Don't want to hurt your feelings, don't want to hurt your pride,
But right now you've got us headed for a whole world suicide,
   (you're bound to lose...)

To see you going 'round telling lies and making wars,
You'd think that people don't know what their hearts and minds are for
   (you're bound to lose...)

So I tried this out last week at Pinewoods camp with the TradMaD crowd.
Doing a little searching I found more verses of Woody's as well that aren't on the YouTube version. I wouldn't put in poll taxes or guns but these verses may be adaptable to today as well:

Race hatred cannot stop us
This one thing we know
Your poll tax and Jim Crow
And greed has got to go
You're bound to lose
You fascists bound to lose.

I'm going into this battle
And take my union gun
We'll end this world of slavery
Before this battle's won
You're bound to lose
You fascists bound to lose!

The song so aptly quoted by Andy Irvine in his Woody tribute Never tire of the road

And here's the link to the Woody version mentioned above.

Good new verses Brian, I'm sure Woody would approve.

I figure we ought to have this documented, so I transcribed it from YouTube—see the URL posted by Brian Cartwright above.

ALL YOU FASCISTS BOUND TO LOSE
As sung by Woody Guthrie and others in a radio broadcast

1. Well, I'm a-gonna tell you fascists, you may be surprised.
People in this world are gettin' organized.
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose.

CHORUS: All you fascists bound to lose.
All you fascists bound to lose.
All you fascists bound to lose.
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose.

2. There's people of ev'ry nation, marchin' side by side,
Marchin' across the fields where a million fascists died.
You're bound to lose, you fascists, bound to lose. CHORUS TWICE
