Subject: Mad Magazine (1952 - 2019) From: keberoxu Date: 04 Jul 19 - 02:44 PM DC Comics is getting ready to phase out MAD magazine. The periodical will disappear from racks and displays. Online there will be activity still, and on occasion, previously published material will be sold with new covers. But for the most part, no new and ongoing content for MAD magazine. The company, DC Comics, has confirmed nothing; but some of the staff have taken to social media confirming that the company has contacted them. the Hollywood Reporter |

Subject: RE: BS: no more Mad Magazine From: BobL Date: 05 Jul 19 - 03:50 AM Didn't realise it was still going after all these years. "Mad was designed to corrupt the minds of children. And from what I'm gathering from the minds of people all over, we succeeded" - Al Jaffee. |

Subject: RE: BS: no more Mad Magazine From: gillymor Date: 05 Jul 19 - 06:03 AM Farewell Alfie and Fonebone. I especially loved their parodies of popular TV shows and Movies, the art work and dialog was spot on. I still read it in the library from time to time and it's surprising how little it's changed over the decades. |

The thread that he is referring to is one regretting the current suspension of fRoots magazine. Praise was being given to the editor for his tireless and seriously underpaid work in editing the outstandingly high quality publication when The Sandman pops up, admitting that he does not read fRoots but without the knowledge that a reader would gain adds:- it is of no interest to me in any form or shape Some posters objected to this, though it would be difficult to interpret this as being "subjected to attacks" His first contribution here said:- If I am allowed to remark. it is not a magzine i will miss My opinion would be that when you have nothing of interest to say, it would be best not to say it. |

Subject: RE: BS: no more Mad Magazine From: punkfolkrocker Date: 05 Jul 19 - 12:33 PM Dick - Mad readers probably care even less you exist.. .. A Mad reader's sophisticated sense of absurdist humour means they can just chuckle quietly to themselves at your sporadic petty sulking fits... There's no need for them to interact with you.. That'd just provoke you taking over another thread.. ..oops.. what have I just done...!!!??? ..sorry mates... I've not read Mad since my school days. A mate's dad used to buy it, and my schoolmate would sneak copies out the house and smuggle them into school... |
