This year's festival was nearly cancelled due to lack of funding but a keen group have now got together and put a programme together based on local singers mainly giving their services for free.

When: 26th-28th July 2012
Where: based around the Marina and the Pier with some morris teams performing in the town centre as well as at the Marina.

We have a main stage on the Saturday at the Minerva from 1 till 11.
Singarounds in The Whittington and Cat from Friday evening till Sunday afternoon with the survivors session in the Minerva, Hull Pier, on the Sunday evening.

Maritime concerts on the Syntan stage at the Marina, run Saturday 1 till 5, and Sunday 1 till 4.

Historic ships on display: Syntan (Beverley barge), Phyllis (Humber sloop), Spurn Lightship, Amy Howson (Humber sloop), Comrade (Humber keel), Vulcan (Clyde barge), Pax (historic vessel).

Music sessions will take place in the hold of Amy Howson.

That sounds great - more interesting to me than a concert-oriented festival. Too late to work it in this year, but maybe next, if it's the same sort of thing.

Very much a grass-roots festival in that there are wall-to wall singarounds/sessions and concerts with mostly local performers.

Programmes for the 3 concerts are plastered all over Facebook. The main stage is at the Minerva Pier from 1 till 11 with more mainstream acts.

Right, Whit & Cat has its own parking on the shopping centre behind it but in order to use this you need to give your car reg to the barman. Access to shopping car park is down Waterhouse Lane to south, turn right at first roundabout past Ice Arena and right at next roundabout into shopping centre carpark. Otherwise go south down Waterhouse Lane and turn left at the roundabout onto Kingston Street and you will be okay for free parking from 4 o'clock (2 hours free & finishes at 6)


For the rest of the weekend Kingston Street leading to the Marina is 2 hours free and to the east of the Marina parking is 3 hours free. Otherwise there are pay car parks. Princes Quay just across the main road from Whit & Cat is quite reasonable for longer stays.

Basically what happens is a young swedish man is tied to the mast to guide the ship into his home harbor..he sees his father...father and brothers save many on board and takes them to his house. he says captain, what is the name of the ship. bluebird of hull. he knew his son was on it. Captain, where is my son.
