I am reminded of that great scene in M*A*S*H where Hawkeye is conjugating being bored...

I am not getting depressed, which is rather amazing, but I have binge-read the entire Redwall series and binge-watched Picard, and I am sooooo booooooored.

All my group therapies, in which I include qi gang, are canceled. All my meetups are canceled. All my friends and relations are entertaining themselves somehow, but I want peeeeeeeeeople!

I know just what you mean Mrrzy. I can 'entertain' myself for the eight hours my husband is at work (1pm until 9pm) doing various little jobs around the house, but I do like people, and chatting. (Husband calls me Mrs Yap-Yap) I've just been sitting on the bench in front of our house (rather a cold wind, but bright sunshine) and chatted to a courier delivering a parcel next door, and a nice neighbour. But folk are busy, and I do get a bit tired toiling away with housework.
Ah well. This too shall pass. (No idea when though!)

Himself is antsy already, although he is more concerned than I am. His daily routine of court, coffee shop, gym, and happy contemplation of perhaps a nice dinner out has come to a grinding halt.

Me, not so much. I am more capable of diving into a hole and pulling it in after me. But it's different if I have to. Today, I'm looking around the house and thinking, I would so prefer to be walking downtown for [choose your excuse] instead of not vacuuming the cat-hair-clotted carpet.

People are still walking their dogs in Stratford, so social interaction is still possible at leash-length distances, but church and choir practice are off, restaurants and coffee shops are closed, the cinema and the theatres are dark, the farmers' market is down, and going to the supermarket is strictly for emergencies like running out of milk.

I have a jeezly great editorial project under way, and Himself is writing a paper for his doctorate program. We have work that we can do at home.

Lucky us.

I've encouraged a local online gardening website to run a special series for newbies on how-to start a very small garden with very few supplies (don't run out and do a lot of shopping - you can do much of the prep with just a shovel or spade fork). Stuck at home? Then it would be nice, at the end of all of this, to have people discover the joy of home-grown vegetables (and use easily available things like dish soap and bicarbonate of soda for pest and disease control). Most garden centers are largely tarp-covered open areas, so social distance is easy to maintain, for the trip to get bedding plants and some organic fertilizer.

Oh, bugger, it is a repeat, and the other 20 channels (I delete most of 100s) have er...... repeats, or Luuuuuurve Island, Big Bother, Crap Heap Challenge, Ice Rude Truckers and other mindless mental wallpapers.

Yu know? I am booooooored.

”People are still walking their dogs in Stratford”

Is that Stratford ON, Charmion? I ask because my wife’s brother lives in Burlington ON and, when we were there visiting in 2015, we saw ‘Henry V’ at the Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford ON. A very nice town.

Our proposed Village Yard Sale has now been cancelled I see, so that's another little project scotched. I was going to pass some time sorting out stuff to sell, but no need now.
My sister sent an email to say all churches in Scotland are closed, all her bridge clubs too, and the table tennis club where she played for her team has cancelled all matches.
I can always find academic things with which to occupy my mind, but we all need human company, it's only natural.

Not bored yet, nor have I started on the big house clear-out that beckons after 33 years in the same house, and waiting for the ideal time to do it! As for that pilke of books I'm going to read...sometime! Songs and tunes to write and learn...
My diary has just totally emptied out: last Friday, practising for a gig we were going to do today: yesterday, gig cancelled and venue closed!
Last Friday, also went to a singing session (approx 12-14 people there)and said "this might be the last for a while" - it was! And Friday 13th, my birthday too.
Now at home in "self isolation" or at least, "avoiding social contact": one of the hardest things is being told by my daughter that they don't want us to keep doing our regular childminding of our grandchildren, as they fear for our health (both being in our 70s): their decision, not ours.

I did more practice on the playable guitar than is usual, too. Almost half an hour!

Don't talk to me about websites

Although I used to be a programmer I didn't have to deal with the internet and so I like to do things the easiest way. Then I didn't have to update my website for ages, and changed PC, and lost my software and got some new stuff, and a new host and now I am updating the website and I am having to work out the procedures to re-publish it.

And it is till boring!

(It is the website for my card models "Millimodels".

Yes, Backwoodsman, we are in Stratford, Ontario, seat of the Magic Kingdom of Perth County.

The theatre festival normally opens for previews in the second week of April, but not this year; so far, it looks as if the first performance will be on 2 May. Our tickets for Hamlet have therefore gone up in smoke.

Perth County is largely rural, with rich farmland and some ridiculously prosperous livestock operations, especially piggeries. There is also a fair bit of light industry, so we won’t suffer. But the theatre season and the related tourism-based businesses (especially restaurants) generate the revenue that makes Stratford a beautiful and interesting place to live. Without it, things will go south fast.

I'm bored with sliced bread. Usually buy several nice loaves at a time to freeze but none left and the shelves are empty. No bread, no crumpets, nothing nice. Need something nice to eat if I can't go dancing or singing.
No baked beans and I had to go twice to get potatoes
I live miles from anywhere so usually stock up and shop monthly, now we are told not to stockpile - so that means more shopping trips and more social contact. Except that I'm told not to go out. And if supermarkets ration things my daughter won't be able to shop for me and herself at the same time.

Mrrzy, There are real people on their keyboard, we only seem virtual.

There is a movie with Kirston Dunston where a rogue planet collides with Earth called Melancholia. Most of the movie is about Kirston's deep deep depression prior to the discovery of catacylsmic events. As everyone else eventually becomes depressed Kirston becomes the caretaker for all with such wisdom and compassion that it is amazing.

In my mind Kirston was uniquely psychic but had no conscious recognition of her ability or future events. I have always equated your experience with Kirston. Normally I would never mention such a passing thought but in these days where the grim reaper has returned from holiday with a vengence I don't see any harm done.

Here is how the movie begins...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKsWNzKjVEk

Having had unique experiences with time it is not odd that I made such a comparison. Its okay to think I am crazy or wise, its just a passing thought.

I guess its something you get used to. I suppose I have the advatage of always liking a lot of my own time but I also used to feel the need to get out, even if only for the last hour in the pub for a change of scene and faces.

Things changed though and, gradually, between health and transport issues things reached the point where I rarely get out. Its the same with my 80+ year old parents I live with. With one exception, I don’t think any of us have got away from the house for reasons outside medical or other appointments this year.

A couple of “boredom” things for me. A few puzzles, Quick and Mondays cryptic and quiptic in the Guardian (on line) , a few puzzles in the I and the local EDP and a couple of these simple ones and daily jigsaw.

In another way, I got dad volume one of an Edgar Wallace series. I joined mum and dad to wathc that in their living room and mum wnet on to get the full 7 volume set – volume3 started. Good old B British movie stuff to waste an hour per evening/film with.

I am by now bored with my puzzles too.

My telepathy (tee hee) session wasn't that bad... I was able to set it so I didn't see me, but just the therapist, and I spent quite a bit of it cleaning up a grapefruit juice spill. He commented on how uncluttered my ceiling was. We have senses of humor.

I keep thinking that during the times I would be walking to group therapy and doing group therapy and walking back I should walk or pace, then do the art or music we'd be doing, then walk or pace sime more, but I don't actually do it.

In previous episodes of boredom, I've read all of Pepys' diaries (over a million words, but much more fun than you might imagine), the Sherlock Holmes canon, 'Canterbury Tales' (complete, in Middle English) and Thomas Hardy's novels.

This time, I'm trying to learn 'Little Man, You've Had A Busy Day' on the guitar, with Clapton's chords, and I have a fiddle to learn, from scratch (literally).

Oh, and I'm taking part in Rainfall Rescue:

so brain death will probably get me before the virus does.

I'm not allowed to be bored. There's always something to vacuum, scrub, cook, or edit.

And it's still Lent. The shutdown is basically Extra Lent.

Crap.

I've about 40 jobs on my To Do list, with only 5 on hold because of the lockdown. Most of them involve long-overdue cleaning and tidying, I've been putting them off for ages and they don't look any more attractive now than they ever did. Learning Andy Cutting's "Petit Chien" (on the melodeon, at dance speed, with no bum notes) looks like taking longer than my life expectancy.

However apart from that, I'd be unstoppable if I could just get started!

I am getting a project together. It will be a reading of a play I have adapted from Shakespearean materials. There are a lot of roles, most of which are brief. My plan is to do it in several sessions on Zoom. When it is done, I will be posting it on YouTube, crediting all participants. There will be a thread about it soon. If you are interested, please PM me with contact info. No need to get bored--just do stuff.

Well sure exceptional people do exceptionl things. Issac Newton and Shakespeare did some of their best work during the Plague in England,
but what will the rest of us do?
Most people are busy getting a degree in TV and a doctorate in Google.

And doing things alone is boring. I have been washing curtains. Still boring.

They way I figured it, if can help find the one asteroid any bigger than the Chelybinsk that might do for us then I want to be part of it.
