Gordon Lightfoot still has 'it'

BALLAD OF THE YARMOUTH CASTLE
BEST YEARS OF HER LIFE
BIG STEEL RAIL
DID SHE MENTION MY NAME
IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND

Yes, entirely agree with you Wayne and Capo: he did look a teeny bit older, but made up for that with flamboyant jacket, and, of course, the music!

The entire lyrics of that song are 'throw-away' - but it is kind of catchy, all the same - especially if performed late at night to a room full of ... 'celebrants'.

The only thing I really object to in the above verse is the idea that the guarantee is "written" - no, Gord, a "written" guarantee would be kinda weird - unless you're talking about a pre-nuptial agreement ... !

Always liked him; couldn't play him aloud for years when I lived in a shared house with a couple of gals who constantly recited some of his less glorious lyrics from 'Alberta Bound':

Oh the skyline of Toronto
Is somethin' you'll get onto
But they say you've got to live there for a while
And if you got the money
You can get yourself a honey
A written guarantee ta make you smile

Saw that Glasgow concert TB. Wonderful to see him and his fantastic band back in UK after all that time.
Also went the the Albert Hall and the Colston (am I allowed to say that!?) Hall,Bristol shows. Loved every one.

I love the fact that he opened with a song from one of his least popular albums. A rugged individualist if ever I heard one!

I keep reading how his voice has gone but as the clip shows, it's changed, for sure, but he can still hold a tune and is, I'm sure Tattie Bogle will agree, still a commanding presence on stage.

Truly one of the greats.

He sure has! Loved the concert he did in Glasgow a few years back; the first in the UK for 35 years.
