Subject: Pete Seeger's Gazette Albums From: GUEST,Pete Seeger's Gazette Albums, Folkways Date: 18 Apr 25 - 06:33 PM I have just acquired a CD version of Pete Seeger's Gazette Vol I no. 1 album. I ordered it for the sake of the song, "Newspapermen Meet Such Interesting People" which was written by someone other than Pete Seeger. Vern somebody? A personal note: my single parent had heard Pete Seeger when in college. The family's record collection had a number of Pete Seeger records: The Birds, Beasts and Little/Bigger Fishes series, and the American folk ballads (that may be the wrong title). What the collection did not have were the Gazette albums which were closely connected to Sing Out magazine. Those would have been too liberal/radical for my parent. So I feel like I'm sticking my neck out by acquiring a Pete Seeger album that was too much for my parent. |

Subject: RE: Pete Seeger's Gazette Albums From: keberoxu Date: 21 Apr 25 - 09:30 AM The song that opens Gazette Album Vol. 2, TOmorrow is a Highway, has its text posted on the thread, Pete Seeger Songs, a good place for it. Another note: some people refer to these Gazette albums as "the broadside albums," I believe. |
