Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lyrics to 'Heart and Soul' piano due From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 16 Apr 00 - 07:17 AM Looking around for something else, I found another location: http://www.volcano.net/~jackmearl/songs/hsongs/heart_and_soul.html This was a HARMONICA chord and lyric site. It seems to include a few lines before the words in the other site. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Heart and Soul (Loesser, Carmichael) From: keberoxu Date: 23 May 17 - 03:58 PM Sigh. This is the pound-'em-out piano party piece to end them all. It is such a cliché that it is capable of clearing the room if anybody starts in on those clunky arpeggios and chords. And now there is a pop tune at the top of the heavy-rotation radio playlists. It takes that chorus and changes the words to Play that Song --the one that makes me go All Night Long --the one that makes me think ooooooooooof yooooooooooou..... that's all you gotta doooooooooo. I could SCREAM when the radio broadcasts it. Oh the torment. |
Subject: ADDPOP: Heart and Soul (Loesser, Carmichael) From: Joe Offer Date: 23 May 17 - 04:20 PM I gotta say, I've always been a fan of Frank Loesser, especially when he was teamed with Hoagy Carmichael. Wikipedia (click) has an interesting article on the song, and how its easy I-vi-IV-V progression made it a piano-duet competitor for "Chopsticks." The song came out in 1938, and three versions charted in 1939. I imagine I first heard the song on the 1952 recording by The Four Aces. HEART AND SOUL (Frank Loesser & Hoagy Carmichael) Heart and soul, I fell in love with you Heart and soul, the way a fool would do Madly... Because you held me tight And stole a kiss in the night... Heart and soul, I begged to be adored Lost control, and tumbled overboard Gladly... That magic night we kissed There in the moon mist Oh! but your lips were thrilling, much too thrilling Never before were mine so strangely willing But now I see, what one embrace can do Look at me, it's got me loving you Madly... That little kiss you stole Held all my heart and soul Keberoxu, just for you, here's a link to "Play That Song" by Train: ...and if you don't like that one, I suppose there's not much chance you'll like Train's "Hey Soul Sister": I got exposed to a number of younger performers while I was working on the Rise Again Songbook. After awhile, I found that I didn't mind them as much as I expected to. -Joe- |
