Do any of you acoustic music junkies plan on coming to Winfield this September? (Walnut Valley/National Flatpick Championships) I sit in some evenings at the folksong/songwriter's circle at the Tulsa Folk Music Society's campsite across from Grier & Swifts site (the harp camp.) Post-midnight I usually wind up at the Carp Camp or the Pickin' Parlor (all in the West campground). I'd be glad to swap songs with you - just look for the tall, bald & ugly guy with a lousy voice, aloppy fingers and a 'bone D-28. If you've never been to Winfield you've never had Great Plains hospitality and two weeks where 90% of the people bring instruments and play almost nonstop....

Was it from this festival that they put out the LP "Walnut Valley Spring Thing" some years ago, Bob? (If it is they must have changed the time at which they hold it, of course) If so have they done any further recordings?

It was indeed ---the "Spring Thing" was a one-time experiment...(I was there..have private tapes of my own)..I have not seen recordings since then..I suspect it is too much trouble to get all those releases from performers...they have mostly just concentrated on putting on the festival each fall. (A wonderful festival!!)
